During Jed's one-on-one date in Newport, RI, with Hannah on last week's The Bachelorette episode, the country singer and guitarist confessed during a romantic dinner that he went on the show hoping it would help his music career.

Many viewers were surprised to hear Jed come clean about his initial intentions, and the news prompted a mixed reaction from Bachelor Nation.

"Hannah said she wanted us to be open and honest and I didn't want to go another day without her knowing the truth," Jed, 25, wrote on his Instagram Stories on Monday.

"I knew some people would take it the wrong way but what mattered to me was being honest so we could focus on our relationship."

The singer and songwriter from Nashville, TN, sang to Hannah at the very first cocktail party of the season as well as during the "Mr. Right" pageant, which sparked speculation he may just be on the show for fame.

However, Jed's personality and heart have started to show through more and more as the season has progressed, and he has become a fan favorite to win Hannah's heart.

He also apparently became a frontrunner to win the final rose in Hannah's mind.

When Jed confessed his initial motive for appearing on The Bachelorette to Hannah, he said, "When I signed up for the show. I was so clueless. I was open to the idea because I love love. I do, I love the idea of it. But my first thought was, you know, 'This is a huge platform.'"

Jed continued, "I just want you to know the truth. So I came in with that mindset, but every moment that we've had has just kind of taken all that away and showed me that now, more than anything, I just want to be with you."

"Now that I see who you are, that's all I want. I feel something growing inside of me that I've never felt before. I'm starting to feel like I'm falling for you more and more. It's beyond a show at this point," he concluded.

Hannah said she respected Jed's honesty on their one-on-one date and complimented how his passion for his music was "amazing."

"I would never want to take that away from you, and I would never want to hinder that," Hannah told Jed of his career.
