Lopez said Sept. 21 that she hadn't "been able to hear" from family in Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria reached the island. She entreated fans at the time to support and donate to relief efforts.

"The devastation is beyond belief," the singer said. "What's foremost on my mind and many others is trying to figure out the best way to help."

Lopez announced Sunday that she will donate $1 million to benefit hurricane victims in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

She will also help raise funds by headlining a Tidal relief concert with Jay-Z and DJ Khaled on Oct. 17.
