The New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America says the reality TV series "Jersey Shore" will be the focus of a public forum.
The PR group said in a release Friday next Wednesday's forum at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., will include a discussion on the impact the popular MTV series has had on New Jersey's reputation.
"The forum will debate the impact that the show will have, both short term and long term, on the reputation of the Garden State," society chapter President Ken Hunter said.
"Jersey Shore," which recently completed its first season, followed the lives of eight young people living together on the New Jersey shore. The reality series prompted allegations of sensationalized stereotyping of Italian-Americans, which will also be discussed at next week's forum.
"This forum, which features an array of top media experts that have reported on the show and key influencers within the state, will provide a candid look at the effect that a show like MTV's 'Jersey Shore' can have in shaping perceptions," Hunter said.
