"His nickname has been Quincy since we first found out we were pregnant. We've been working on finding out a name, and we finally figured it out!" Duggar, 23, told the camera.
"His name is Spurgeon Elliot Seewald," the new dad revealed.
"Why we named him that: Charles Spurgeon was a preacher who lived back in the 19th century and he had a big impact on our lives, and his writings and sermons and books are still around today and they continue to impact many, many people."
Seewald, 20, then explained where Elliot came from.
"That was the last name of Jim Elliot and Elizabeth Elliot, and Jim Elliot was a missionary to South America. He actually died on the mission and then his wife Elizabeth Elliot, she actually went back to the tribe after her husband's death and continued to [practice] the gospel there. She just died this past year," he continued.
Duggar called their baby boy "a precious little bundle of joy" and noted they are "so blessed" to call him their own.
"Yup, he's about a week old today!" added Seewald.
Spurgeon was born weighing 9 lbs and 11 ounces, and he was over 21 inches long. However, the labor wasn't without complications. Duggar reportedly attempted a home birth in Fayetteville, AR, but got rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
Despite the TMZ report, Seewald posted photos of the baby in their home the following day, insisting that his wife and child were doing well.
Duggar and her sister Jill (Duggar) Dillard will be starring in several upcoming specials on TLC called Counting On. The birth of Spurgeon will be a major storyline.
