Two sets of friends entered the elimination room but only one emerged victorious, as Jesse, a 26-year-old software engineer from Cincinnati, OH, and his partner Erin, a 22-year-old hair stylist from Carol Stream, IL, were revealed to be the fifth pair eliminated from Beauty and the Geek's fourth season during last night's broadcast of The CW reality competition series.

"One of the mains stereotypes that I had about beauties was that they were kind of snobby, wouldn't really give a geek the time of day," commented Jesse.  "Really that's not true at all.  They're really nice and friendly, and more than happy to talk to you if you just give them a chance and actually have the courage to go up and approach them."

Beauty and the Geek 4's sixth episode began with Sam, a 26-year-old party promoter from Davis, CA who is serving as the hunky guy, and his partner Nicole, a 25-year-old Tufts University musicology graduate student from San Francisco, CA who is serving as the nerdy girl, returning from the previous elimination round, where they eliminated Luke Neyer and Katie Roberson.

Sam said it felt "so good" to have "conquered" the elimination room, however the pair didn't get such a warm reception when they joined the other remaining couples.  Sam realized he and Nicole "have people on edge" and thought the other couples were "worried" about having to compete against them in future challenges.

"I'm scared of myself with how well I'm doing," boasted Sam, who had won two of five beauty challenges.

Meanwhile David, a 28-year-old fire department administrator from Somerville, MA, was contemplating the comments made by Joshua, a 26-year-old student from Princeton, NJ, at the previous nomination ceremony.  While Joshua and his partner Shalandra, a 26-year-old bartender from Little Rock, AR, decided to nominate Luke and Katie, Joshua commented they were close to putting in David and his partner Jasmine, a 22-year-old nanny from Columbus, OH, because they weren't growing as a team.

David said he was "not surprised" to be called out by Joshua at the previous nomination ceremony but still said it was "hard to hear."  However he was unsure how to better open up the lines of communication with Jasmine, and the solution he arrived at seemed awful harsh.

"I came upon the truth that I'm a terrible person," David told Jasmine that night.  She assured David that he took Joshua's comments "the wrong way" and didn't want him to feel "targeted" as he participates in the learning experience.  David said talking to Jasmine cheered him up.

The next morning, Beauty and the Geek host Mike Richards informed the couples they'd be participating in the fourth season's first team challenge.

The beauties would have to each create their own superhero, coming up with everything from the character and arch nemesis to the plot and back story.  The geeks would create the costumes, which the beauties would then model while explaining their creation during Comic-Con, the world's biggest comic-book convention held annually in San Diego.

The couples would be judged as a team, and the winning pair would have the opportunity to nominate both couples for the upcoming elimination round.

While the geeks were geeked about getting to attend Comic-Con, the beauties began to conjure up their superhero alter egos.  Erin wanted to be a beach girl with a rocket-powered surfboard; Jasmine wanted the power to make people fall asleep and said coffee was her kryptonite; Natalie, a 22-year-old waitress and Hooters promotional model from Raleigh, NC, was a super-villain made of vines; and Sam decided he would mostly just be himself.

"I feel like I'm the superhero of the house... Definitely," gushed Sam.

Jennifer, a 26-year-old waitress and model from Boston, MA, said she had lots of ideas, the best of which had her hypnotizing the bad guys with her boobs.  Jennifer's partner William, a 25-year-old server from Raleigh-Durham, NC and self-described comic book junkie, thought her idea was "foolish" and "outside the realm of believability."  Jennifer noticed William's bad attitude and was upset he kept shooting down her ideas.

With the beauties hard at work on their characters, the geeks gathered in a fully-loaded costume room to start putting the outfits together.  Nicole quickly found herself helping the other geeks due to her knowledge on sewing.  She was "not too worried" about Sam's costume since it was simple, and David thought Nicole had "the edge."

As David and John, a 22-year-old analog circuit design student from Frederick, MD, both had troubles with the sewing machine -- some of the costumes were already coming together -- but the results weren't too great.  Shay's confidence in Joshua was "slim to none," and Jennifer continued to have problems with William.  She said she was "frustrated" he hadn't even asked what her measurements were yet.

William asked Joshua if he wanted to switch partners and then dug a deep hole for himself, commenting how he was going to make Jennifer look "as fat as possible" because she's acting like a "prima donna."  Never good to say about your partner, especially when she's standing in the doorway and hears every word of it.  Jennifer confronted William, calling him a "Mr. Know-It-All" and cussing at him for rolling his eyes as she lectured him.

"I don't care if you don't like me.  That's fine," Jennifer told William.  "But for the time that we're here together, we need to make the best of it so that we can do well here and change the things we need to change about ourselves... We're not going to be able to do that if we get sent home."

Jesse, John and David worked into the wee hours of the morning putting the finishing touches on their costumes before the couples boarded a bus when day broke and headed to Comic-Con.

"I couldn't contain myself," said a giddy William.  "I just felt like I was going to explode."

Sam described William as a "4- or 5-year-old at Chuck E. Cheese," and Jennifer couldn't stand sitting between her partner and David as they talked all things comics.  Once the couples arrived at the convention, Shay said she wasn't surprised to see "freaks, weird people and a bunch of dorks."  The pairs then prepared for the challenge after walking around.  They would be judged by a four-person panel of comic book experts.

Shay was "Steam," and was confident in her character's story before she got in-front of the judges and stumbled through her description.  Erin was "Aqualita Splash," and she was really into her character and had the rocket-powered surfboard that Jesse was up all night finishing.  Jennifer was "Venus: The Hypnotic Temptress," and the judges were impressed at her cartwheels and the fact she was strong enough to pick William up.  However she lacked confidence in the costume William created for her and thought it would hurt them with the judges.

Natalie was "Vinity," a self-described "lady killer" because she's a lady who's "addicted to killing and eating humans."

Sam floored the judges with his depiction of "Metro-Man."  He went shirtless and did a lot of flexing, and his costume contained numerous accessories, such as a belt that reflected bullets.  He beamed when describing his character's back story, explaining "Metro-Man" was a world-famous underwear model who break dances and received his powers from a bottle of self-tanning spray that belonged to former Dancing with the Stars' second-season participant George Hamilton.

Jasmine wasn't a big fan of the not-so-revealing costume David created for her, however she was into her character of "Princess Bedhead," explaining an elaborate back story; her complicated superpowers; as well as her solar-powered enemy.  The judges seemed to be mocking her costume, and David had to defend it.  The judges described Jasmine as "entertaining."

After the judges deliberated, none of the teams wanted Sam and Nicole to win.  Before revealing the winner, the judges said Jasmine and David came up just short.

"That's awesome.  Me and Dave came together in this challenge," commented Jasmine.

"It feels great to actually be able to help Jasmine with something I love," said David.  "That's a fantastic feeling that something I'm doing is helping her."

The judges than said Sam and Nicole had a good presentation as well as a sustainable character and plot, awarding the challenge victory to them.  Not surprisingly, the other couples were bummed.

"When I heard Sam and Nicole won, I was like, 'No way!,'" said Jasmine.  "Because they always win!  It's like they're a super team!"

"All of us girls would do anything for Sam to lose," commented Jennifer before turning her attention to her partner.  "I'm extremely frustrated with William.  He loves comics.  This is his thing.  For him to put such little effort into this, I want to slap him."

"It felt really good," gushed Sam, "because I did work really hard on my character.  I thought it was really cool!"

Back at the house, the beauties studied comic books and the geeks studied fashion in preparation for the upcoming elimination round, unsure which two teams Sam and Nicole would nominate.  Sam and Nicole discussed their options, with Sam wanting to nominate the "stronger teams" while Nicole realized their choice required "a lot more strategy" because they were picking both nominations.  They eventually realized that all of the couples had reasons why they could be nominated.

"This is going to be a tough one," commented "Metro-Man."  "I have to really think about my decision because I know this really determines the future for us."

Sam and Nicole then nominated John and Natalie as well as Jesse and Erin for the elimination round.

"One of the main reasons behind it is we don't think we can compete with two teams that are just so close," explained Sam.

Natalie described the nominations to Erin as the "worst-case scenario", and Erin sobbed and said it was "really sad" that one of the two couples would have to leave.  Natalie further explained she was "very mad" at Sam and Nicole, describing their nominations of two close couples as "very low."

"They didn't have to put us up against one another," said Natalie.  "If John and I win, our goal coming back is just to get Sam and Nicole out of the house."

In the elimination round, the geeks would answer questions about fashion while the beauties would be quizzed on comic books.

"One of us not coming back... Me and Jesse have already been through it once before," said Erin.  John said he had "mixed" feelings about his competition in the elimination room since they were such good friends.

Natalie correctly answered both of her questions, and while Erin also knew the answer to her first question, she didn't know Superman was "more powerful than a locomotive."  John then answered his first question correctly, and with no margin for error, Jesse was unable to identify a photo of supermodel Kate Moss.  As a result, Jesse and Erin were ousted from the competition.

"You can do it," whispered Jesse to John before he and Erin departed.  "I know you can."

"This experience has seriously meant the world to me," said Erin.  "I feel very, very lucky to have been here.  I seriously had the time of my life -- I can't stress it enough -- the time of my life here.  The people that I've met, I know are going to be lifelong friends."
