"Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson. We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!" Simpson wrote on her website Tuesday.
Maxwell Drew -- who weighed nine pounds and 13 ounces and was 21 and three-fourth inches long when she was born on Tuesday morning -- got her middle name from Simpson's maternal grandmother, Tina Simpson, whose maiden name is Drew, Us Weekly reported.
Simpson and Johnson had revealed they were expecting a baby girl and were already set on what her name was going to be in March.
"We're sure [of the name]," said Simpson, who previously starred in VH1's The Price of Beauty and MTV's Newlyweds reality series, according to Us.
"We're embroidering it on things. It's nothing shocking and nothing you'll have to add to the dictionary. When people hear it, they'll know why."
The reality TV star confirmed she was pregnant with Johnson's child in October, however reports that Simpson -- who had sported an increasingly prominent baby bump -- was expecting her first child dated back to late summer. She has said she learned she was pregnant on September 12.
Simpson, 31, and Johnson, a 32-year-old retired former NFL player, got engaged in late 2010.
