Jon Gosselin can't believe his eldest daughters, 15-year-old twins Madelyn "Mady" Gosselin and Cara Gosselin, spoke negatively about him in the press.

"I'm very upset," Jon, 39, told Entertainment Tonight. "I love my children very much. I've always been there for them and I always will be. It's shocking."

Mady and Cara fired away at their estranged father during a recent interview with People, insisting it's his fault they don't have much of a relationship and they make their own decisions -- not their mother Kate Gosselin.

"He makes it seem like we're being kept from him, which is insane," Mady told the magazine. "He should maybe spend some time thinking about why we don't want to see him and maybe realize that if he ever does want a relationship with us, talking about us on TV is not the way to make that happen."

Mady added, "He doesn't even know us. How can he dare to talk about us?"

Cara was more reserved in sharing her thoughts about Jon but admitted she wouldn't even know what to say to her father at this point.

The girls were responding to an interview Jon conducted with ET earlier this month. He said ties with his 12-year-old sextuplets are strained and he's barely even speaking with Mady and Cara at all.

Jon revealed he hasn't seen all of his eight kids -- who live in Pennsylvania with Kate -- together in over three years, seemingly suggesting Kate was to blame for the estrangement.

"Madelyn and Cara just stopped coming [over my house], around 12-13 [years old]," Jon said. "I didn't question it. I was just like, 'Hey, do what you want, be with your friends' and then it just became they're not coming."

Jon and Kate divorced in December 2009 and the demise of their marriage was made public on Jon & Kate Plus 8. Jon has since insisted he hates reality TV and being in the spotlight, however, he starred on VH1's Couples Therapy in 2014 with his girlfriend at the time, Liz Jannetta.

Kate, 41, is currently filming Kate Plus 8 for TLC with her children.
