The Bachelorette alum Jonathon Johnson has finally dished about what's really going on with Dancing with the Stars contestant Jenn Tran.

The "Golden Hour" podcast hosts Susan Noles and Kathy Swarts asked Jonathon flat out if he's dating Jenn amid comments on social media she "ran" back to her third-place finisher once her engagement to The Bachelorette 21 winner Devin Strader ended in late August.

"No, [we are not dating]," Jonathon responded.

"But we do spend a lot of time together. We get along great. She did not come 'running back' to me."

Jonathon recently said that his friendship with Jenn is "flourishing" and he feels like he's been "a part" of her journey on Dancing with the Stars' 33rd season.

Jonathon shared how he "loves the sh-t" out of Jenn -- but it's just "a friendly love" -- and he's been enjoying watching her perform every week on Dancing with the Stars.

Many The Bachelorette fans believe Jonathon should've been Jenn's final pick on The Bachelorette's 21st season instead of Devin.

But Jonathon didn't even finish in second place. Jonathon was eliminated after Fantasy Suites in third place when Jenn chose to advance Devin and Marcus Shoberg instead.

After Devin broke Jenn's heart post-The Bachelorette, Jenn and Jonathon began spending time together in California.

Jenn and Jonathon attended parties together, went out for fancy dinners, and posted flirty TikTok videos that got fans gossiping and speculating about the nature of their relationship.

But Jenn said on a September episode of the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast, "Truthfully I'm not in a place where I can even date anybody right now or entertain the idea of somebody. My heart is just not there yet."

Jenn also told Us Weekly at the time that she felt so lucky to have her "good friend" by her side following her devastating split from Devin.

"Honestly, it just means so much," Jenn told the magazine at the September 17 live premiere of Dancing with the Stars.

"He's such a good friend of mine and to be able to be here in L.A. and to, like, cultivate that friendship with him now, it's exactly what I need right now is someone to lean on and he's been exactly that."

Given Jonathon is still single, he told Susan and Kathy on "The Golden Hour" podcast how he's attracted to a woman's personality and someone who can be direct with her feelings.

"If I have a crush on someone, I let them know almost immediately. There's no reason to hold back in life," Jonathon said.

"There's something behind the confidence of when a woman comes up to a man and says, 'I have a crush on you' that it gets me every time. Like, I don't know what it is... I fall for the confidence and I'm like, 'Well, let's talk. Let's see if there's something here, then.'"

But Jonathon said he's not the type of guy who likes to "hook up with" a woman and quickly cut ties.

If Jonathon doesn't find a partner in the near future, he'll be appearing on Bachelor in Paradise's tenth season in 2025.

When reflecting on all of the past The Bachelor contestants, Jonathon claimed there's "nobody in particular" that he has his eye on.

"I want to go in with an open mind," Jonathon teased of his upcoming Paradise stint.

"I don't want to come in there and be set on one person... or I lose sight and I don't see somebody who's amazing, like, right there."

This past summer, Jonathon promised to "avoid Bachelor Nation" DMs in order not to complicate his Bachelor in Paradise experience.

Jonathon shared on an episode of Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt's "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast at the time that he first notices a woman's legs and his celebrity crush is singer Billie Eilish because of her individuality.

Jonathon said bad hygiene and a lack of purpose are his dealbreakers, and when it comes to what he wants in a woman, his dream girl will be kind, silly, spontaneous, self-aware, extroverted, and emotionally intelligent.

Shortly after his The Bachelorette elimination aired, Jonathon appeared on "The Viall Files" podcast and explained why it would be difficult to reconcile his relationship with Jenn in the real world.

"It's a hard position to be in when -- and I'm not just trauma dumping right now -- but when, like, I think people have been in love with the idea of me before and then not actually myself," Jonathon told Nick Viall.

Jonathon noted that getting eliminated from The Bachelorette in third place made him feel like "everyone else can see" his worth "except for the person" he really wanted to see it.

"It's hard to go back on that... I'm not saying [getting back together] could never happen. I'm not saying that," Jonathon acknowledged.

Nick advised Jonathon not to tease Bachelor Nation for too long about his relationship with Jenn if nothing is going to happen -- like in the case of The Bachelorette alums Hannah Brown and Tyler Cameron -- because people might turn on them.

"What if we don't know though?" Jonathon asked. "What if we can't make our minds up?"

Nick therefore asked Jonathon point blank, "Do you want to try? Do you want to explore it?"

"I don't know," Jonathon replied. "Open-minded is probably where I stand... I genuinely have no idea."

As for why the pair didn't work out to begin with, Jenn explained on "Off the Vine" that "it just wasn't there" with Jonathon.

"I don't think he'll mind me saying this, but he just wasn't sure about doing long distance," Jenn revealed of the California-based creative director who works in ads and marketing.

"I was like, 'I live in Miami and I'm not going to be moving,' and he's not going to be moving."

Jenn elaborated, "So we were both kind of just like -- we didn't know if long distance-wise [how it would work]. If his heart wasn't in it and mine wasn't, then it wasn't going to work."

Jonathon agreed this past summer that there was "an X factor missing" with Jenn and their relationship, although it was "fun," was a step behind what Jenn had going with a couple of other men.
