Kaitlyn Bristowe admits she and Shawn Booth pushed off their breakup announcement for quite some time in fear of facing reality.

"We were kind of struggling for the last little while... I just wasn't feeling loved for over the last year," Kaitlyn, 33, said of her relationship with Shawn prior to calling it quits in November 2018.
"It really just started weighing on me. I just felt very alone in the relationship and I felt like I had a best friend but I didn't feel like I had a partner. We just started growing apart."
Kaitlyn and the 31-year-old Boothcamp Gym owner apparently waited to tell the world their engagement had ended because they "didn't want to face what was coming with it."
For instance, the former The Bachelorette star had to deal with the anxiety of losing her best friend in Shawn as well as his beloved Golden Retriever named Tucker.
"This breakup just felt very different to me, and difficult in many more ways, just because it was, obviously, so public," Kaitlyn explained, adding that she felt she had to put on an "act" for social media followers that her life with Shawn was perfect.
Kaitlyn, however, insisted she "knew she would be okay" because splitting from Shawn after three years together was simply "the right decision."
Kaitlyn revealed on the podcast she realized during a Summer 2018 trip to her native Canada her relationship with Shawn wasn't going to work out because he didn't seem to be "on the same page" as her.

Prior to having that epiphany, Kaitlyn just assumed she and Shawn were going through a rough patch in their romance.
Kaitlyn and Shawn got engaged during the finale of The Bachelorette's eleventh season back in 2015.

Since their broken engagement, Kaitlyn has moved on with Jason Tartick, who competed for Becca Kufrin's heart on The Bachelorette's fourteenth season.
Kaitlyn and Jason confirmed their romantic involvement back in January and their relationship has seemingly been going strong ever since.
