Kanye West announced on Twitter that he wants to distance himself from politics after months of doubling down on his support for President Donald Trump.
"My eyes are now wide open and now realize I've been used to spread messages I don't believe in. I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!!" West said on Tuesday.
West's comments come after the rapper seemingly became involved with an apparel line titled Blexit that encourages African Americans to leave the Democratic Party.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens, whom West has spoken positively about before, created the line.
"I introduced Candace to the person who made the logo and they didn't want their name on it so she used mine. I never wanted any association with Blexit. I have nothing to do with it," West also tweeted on Tuesday.
West, who had started to frequently wear Trump's red "Make America Great Again" hat, had met with the president in October inside the oval office before a law was signed to update U.S. copyright laws.
West said in September that he was bullied backstage at "Saturday Night Live" over his support for Trump.
West was the musical guest on the Season 44 premiere of "SNL" and proceeded to give a speech about politics onstage after performing and after cameras stopped rolling.
