Kara DioGuardi claims that viewers concerned that she feuded with guest judge Katy Perry during last night's American Idol broadcast have nothing to worry about.

"I think that's really funny... People actually think that I was upset by this -- like there was tension," said DioGuardi during a Wednesday appearance on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.

"When I look at it, I think that it's really funny. I think that it's really good that she disagreed with me. I think that it's important that people have different opinions or else who wants to watch the show? It'd be boring."

DioGuardi and Perry -- who was one of several guest judges to fill-in for Paula Abdul during ninth-season auditions -- had several disagreements during the Los Angeles auditions episode, which was highlighted by a video montage near the end of the broadcast.

However Seacrest -- who had introduced the Idol montage by saying things had gotten "downright catty" between the women -- asked DioGuardi if there was any tension between Perry and herself, DioGuardi answered "not really."

"It's Katy. I've known Katy for a long time," she added. "I remember Katy when she was jumping up and down on consoles. She had more energy than the room could actually take."

One of the more contentious moments in the montage was when DioGuardi was debating whether a contestant should receive a ticket to Hollywood Week.

"I feel like we should just say yes," said DioGuardi to the hopeful.

"Well I don't feel like we should ever just say yes," replied Perry.

"Well I feel bad," added DioGuardi.

"Don't ever put someone through because you feel bad," retorted Perry.

"Ooh!  She told me!" said DioGuardi.

However DioGuardi explained to Seacrest why she simply wanted to let the contestant through.

"She came in and we interrupted her audition a hundred times. We never allowed her to sing. I was starting to say, 'I feel bad. We feel like we should just put her through because we put her through so much crap here,'" explained DioGuardi.

"I don't want people to ever think I put people through because I feel bad. Well, I did in that moment."

In addition, Perry seemingly upset DioGuardi during the broadcast by saying she was going to "pull a Kara" when critiquing another contestant.

"We used to be friends!" replied DioGuardi to the comment.

"We are friends," said Perry.

DioGuardi got her own shots in too -- mocking Perry's "Hot n Cold" single and singing a parody of her "I Kissed a Girl" breakthrough hit.

"Please stop or I'll have to throw my Coke in your face," replied Perry.

While DioGuardi said there's no bad blood between her and Perry, it apparently appeared so real that even some of DioGuardi's family members thought there was a problem.

"My Italian cousins back home wrote me texts like, 'Do I need to come out there and smack that bitch down?'" DioGuardi told Seacrest. "They were like, 'Does she need a smack down?' I was like, 'No. You've got to chill out.'"
