Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman from the Washington, D.C. area got off to a great start in their relationship because they had a mutual attraction and got along great on Season 10 of Married at First Sight, which aired in early 2020.

But as Katie got to know Derek more, she became frustrated with his boy-like wonder in that she accused him of having "unrealistic" dreams and not having his priorities of marriage and starting a family in check.

Katie also claimed Derek didn't put much effort into their marriage, although viewers saw Derek buy Katie gifts, befriend her family members and be patient with his wife when she'd spark arguments over little things in order to get attention.

Katie's main insecurity in the marriage was that Derek might never fall in love with her given he had never been in love with a woman before.

She also struggled with jealousy issues, and Derek wasn't convinced he and Katie were entirely compatible.

On "Decision Day," Katie felt torn and wasn't sure Derek was "the" guy for her.

Katie said she had been hoping for a more mature, manly-man at the altar, but she decided to continue working on their marriage on "Decision Day."

Derek chose to do the same because he really liked and cared for Katie, and then the pair moved into a new apartment together under a one-year lease.

But the couple's relationship came crashing down about two weeks after "Decision Day," when Katie asked Derek to just be friends and then eventually requested a separation.

Katie said she and Derek had failed to establish an emotional and physical connection, and she called him "fake" and said she was never going to fall in love with him.

But Derek accused Katie of cheating on him twice with her ex-boyfriend during their marriage, both during filming and after.

Katie denied having slept with her ex after her honeymoon with Derek, but she did admit to a "physical slip-up" after "Decision Day."

Katie also admitted to going on a date with Season 10 co-star Zach Justice before Married at First Sight Season 10 premiered in January.

In May 2020 -- only a few weeks after Married at First Sight's Season 10 finale aired on Lifetime -- Katie went Instagram official with her new boyfriend Brandon Eaves after spending Mother's Day with Brandon's mom.

"Spent the weekend celebrating this amazing guy's mama in his hometown and couldn't be happier #happymothersday," Katie captioned a photo of the cute couple standing outside on a sidewalk.

In the photo, Katie was wearing a black shirt, black jeans and a gray cardigan, while Brandon was wearing a blue striped button down shirt with jeans and a blue baseball hat.

Brandon was an Air Force officer from Chattanooga, TN currently attending Marine Corps University and living in the Washington, D.C. area.

Katie had mentioned and shown Brandon in some of her Instagram Stories and Instagram Live postings in the weeks prior to her Instagram post.

According to Katie, she and Brandon met on the Hinge dating app and began dating in March.

In December 2020, Katie announced Brandon had proposed and the couple was engaged!

"I'm the luckiest girl in the world," Katie captioned an Instagram photo gallery showing Brandon down on one knee as the pair stood by the water at Old Town Alexandria in Virginia on a rainy day.

Shortly after her first post, Katie posted two more images of Brandon and herself walking hand-in-hand.

"If you told me at the beginning of 2020 that this was how it would end, I'd never believe you," Katie shared with her followers on Instagram.

"Although this year has definitely not been easy for anyone, for me it's been the best one yet. This year brought me my best friend, my person, the love of my life, and the person I'll continue to choose forever."

Katie continued, "Life is so unpredictable and so amazing. I can't wait to see what 2021 has in store, but mostly I can't wait to be your wife."

While Katie made the big announcement of her engagement on Christmas Eve, she did not specify if that was the same date Brandon actually popped the question.

Katie and Brandon then got married only six months later in June 2021.

In August 2022, Katie and Brandon also welcomed their first child.

"John Zachary Eaves made his debut August 30th at 5:26pm and we're over the moon obviously," Katie captioned an Instagram gallery of photos announcing her son's birth.
