"The material on the new album is part small town girl, but also a reflection of the experiences I've had over the last two years. I've matured, some, seen a lot more of the world, and naming the album Kellie Pickler says, 'This album is me, this is who I am and where I am.'"
The lead single of Pickler's second album -- "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" -- was released last month.
Additional songs include "Best Days Of Your Life," which she co-wrote with pal Taylor Swift while on the road last year; and "Rocks Instead Of Rice," which Pickler penned with "Before He Cheats" writers Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear. "Rocks" looks at a woman at the wedding of an ex-boyfriend.
The self-titled sophomore effort is produced by Chris Lindsey, with Pickler contributing to the creative process by working on arrangements, instrumentation and song selection -- a process that, due to her participation in Idol's 2006 summer tour, she wasn't really involved with on her debut album.
Pickler's debut album -- "Small Town Girl" -- dropped on Halloween 2006 and has since sold nearly 800,000 copies.
The Idol fifth-season sixth-place finisher recently won three 2008 CMT Music Awards and has also expressed interest in appearing as a Dancing with the Stars seventh-season celebrity participant.
