Kelsey Grammer says former wife Camille Grammer's role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was a goodbye gift from him.

"It was my way of saying, 'Look, you always wanted to be famous. Here you go.'"
Kelsey reportedly explained he felt his marriage to Camille -- who has previously claimed Kelsey was the one who told her to do the show -- was basically over when his ex-wife signed up to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast.
"I remember having one conversation where I said, 'Well, don't worry about it. After the first season, you can do The Divorced Wives of Beverly Hills next season,'" Kelsey said, adding that Camille had always been obsessed with achieving fame and only married him because of his success on television sitcoms Frasier and Cheers.
While the couple remained married for 13 years, according to People, Kelsey told Morgan his relationship with Camille was rocky from the very beginning.
"Camille asked for a divorce really almost the first day we were married," Kelsey said. "If you say you want a divorce enough times, you're going to get one."
While Kelsey reportedly insisted The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was testing their marriage from the start, he admitted he wasn't even sure himself whether their relationship was going to last.
"I think what I was trying to do was sell it to myself," Kelsey added. "There was this small voice in the back of my head saying, 'This isn't going to work.' But I stuck to it."
Camille, 43, filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences from Kelsey, 56, in July 2010 and their divorce was finalized in February.
