Kendall Jenner gives viewers a brief history lesson in the latest promotional video for "Rock The Vote."
"Every day, we vote. We're able to express our opinions online with links and hashtags," she is heard saying. "But when it comes to the right to vote, it always hasn't been that easy, especially for women."
"Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton started the National Women's Suffrage Association in 1869," Jenner began. "Suffragettes took the fight nationwide, starting state-by-state campaigns pushing for women's rights to vote."
After decades of fighting, she explained, women finally were given the right to vote in elections in August 1920.
"Because of suffraggettes and their battle, gender doesn't matter," Jenner said. "But your vote always can."At the end of the video, Jenner opens her mouth to speak, saying "I'm Kendall Jenner. I'm 19 and I'm here to rock the vote."
The Independent Journal enlisted Jenner for the "Rock The Vote" campaign to highlight her and her family's enormous influence on social media. Jenner, the outlet explains, has more Instagram followers than that of all the presidential candidates combined. The family, including Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kanye West, Kylie Jenner, Kris Jenner, Rob Kardashian and Caitlyn Jenner have, combined, tens times as many Twitter followers as the candidates.
