Kim Kardashian is standing by her decision to clothe her daughter in a corset-inspired dress.
The 36-year-old reality star responded to criticism Wednesday on Twitter after North West, her 4-year-old daughter with Kanye West, was spotted wearing what appeared to be a corset this week.
"I would never put my daughter in a corset! It's a dress I bought that is a cotton fabric that laces up & looks like a corset! Just decoration," she wrote to her 54 million followers.
Kardashian accompanied her tweet with a video of herself showing the dress up close.
"This dress -- that I did not design, I actually bought -- is not a corset. It's just fabric on the front that looks like a corset," the star said in the clip.
"I think it's really cute," she added. "I bought it from a designer. It's just fabric, people. It's not a real corset."
Kardashian's post followed a barrage of criticism of North's dress online.
Some were initially concerned the outfit was cinching North's waist, while others said the dress "sexualized" the 4-year-old.
"What has the world come to," one person wrote on Instagram. "We are starting to dress babies in corsets and satin. Watch people say its a trend."

"It's one thing for Kim to dress a certain way, it's another to dress a little girl in sexualized attire," another person added.
Kardashian defended herself earlier in the week after a Twitter user thought they spotted cocaine on the star's hotel table.
The reality star shut down the report by showing the white lines on the table were just a pattern in the marble furniture.
