Kim Kardashian believes her Paris robbery was "meant to happen."
The 36-year-old "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star said on Thursday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that the harrowing October incident seemed like fate because it helped change her for the better.
"I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me. I don't want to start crying, but I know that was so meant to happen," Kardashian told DeGeneres through tears. "I'm such a different person."
"I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things," she explained.
"I was definitely materialistic before, not that there's anything bad with having things and working hard to get those things ... But I'm so happy that my kids get this me and that this is who I'm raising my kids [to be]."
"I don't care about that stuff anymore," the star said of her material wealth. "I don't care to show off the way that I used to. Truly, it's okay if you're proud of that and you work so hard and you get something. It's just not who I am anymore."
Kardashian was robbed of her cell phone and millions of dollars worth of jewelry Oct. 2 in Paris.
She said on the March 19 episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" that she expected to be raped and killed during the incident.
"[I thought] they're just totally going to shoot me in the head," the star recalled. "I just prayed that [my sister Kourtney will] have a normal life after she sees my dead body on the bed."

Kardashian told DeGeneres she "100 percent" thought she was going to die during the robbery, and that her final prayer was for her husband, Kanye West, and children.
She and West married in 2014, and share 3-year-old daughter North and 16-month-old son Saint.
