Loss-prevention guards who work for Target reportedly placed Richards, 50, under citizen's arrest on late afternoon Sunday until police arrived.
Richards was allegedly caught trying to leave Target with about $600 worth of merchandise she didn't pay for, according to a representative from the LA Police Department. The reality TV star was booked into Valley Jail around 7:30PM that night.
Richards posted $5,000 bail and was released from custody yesterday just before 2PM, the LA Times reported.
Richards had another run-in with the law only a few months ago. She got arrested in April for making a drunken scene at the Beverly Hills Hotel in which she allegedly yelled at a bartender and locked herself in a bathroom. Richards ultimately pleaded not guilty to resisting arrest, public intoxication and battery on a peace officer in June.
After the incident, Richards entered rehab for the fourth time to treat her alcoholism. She told Entertainment Tonight in late July she completed her treatment program and had been sober for more than 30 days at that point.
Richards has been a regular cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills since its first season debuted back in 2010. The series' fifth season just wrapped in late April. It's unclear whether she'll return for Season 6.
