Kirk DeWindt posted a statement for Bachelor in Paradise fans who have been hating on him for breaking Carly Waddell's heart at the end of the season.

Naturally, Waddell fans have been bashing DeWindt on social media for leading Waddell on and being manipulative and selfish. On Tuesday night, DeWindt took to Facebook to express his feelings on the subject.
"These last two days have been tough. Really tough. It's amazing what going through an experience like this can help someone learn about themselves. Amidst all the negativity and backlash there has been an incredible amount of support, loving words, and true understanding that I was doing the best I could to listen to my heart," DeWindt wrote in a statement.
"Even considering all the negativity, I've truly felt more loved than I ever have in my entire life. To my friends, family, and people on social media who chose kindness I want to say thank you. Thank you for going out of your way to make me feel loved, cared for, and supported. It means more than you know."
On September 6, DeWindt posted a picture of the following story on social media: "A boy asked his mom: 'How will I be able to find the right woman for me?' The mom answered: 'Don't worry about finding the right woman, concentrate on becoming the right man.'"
"And I'm working on it everyday," DeWindt captioned the image. "I'm so incredibly thankful and lucky to spend the time I did with Carly and I'm truly sorry things happened how they did. I appreciate and care about Carly exponentially more than a silly TV show could ever portray."
Chris Harrison recently said that while DeWindt and Wadell's split was shocking and sad, it was nobody's fault. Waddell's best friend Jade Roper, on the other hand, continues to stand by Waddell in this situation, while her new fiance Tanner Tolbert has come to DeWindt's defense.
Bachelor in Paradise just wrapped its second season Monday night on ABC.
