Adam Lambert aficionados will apparently have the opportunity to hear what he sounded like pre-American Idol.

Hi Fi Recordings and Wilshire Records plan to release songs recorded by the Idol eighth-season runner-up prior to his appearance on the Fox mega-hit, The Associated Press reported Friday.
Titled "On with the Show," the album is slated to be released this summer.
Hi Fi Recordings CEO John Heckler said the album will include 11 or 12 songs -- many of which were co-written by Lambert and were recorded in 2007 and 2008. Heckler added Wilshire Records approached Hi Fi Recordings during Lambert's Idol eighth-season run about the possibility of releasing the material.
"We were presented with a business opportunity," Heckler told The AP.

"We accepted because Wilshire Records had a long working relationship with Adam, and it resulted in excellent music that they had the rights to. The music has an audience, and it deserves to be heard. I think it's great music. At the end of the day, from my perspective, we're really helping Adam."
In addition, Heckler described "On with the Show" as a "complete album" that includes mid- and up-tempo songs, ballads and rock tunes. The first single from the album will be "Want."
Lambert -- who had been widely considered to be Idol's eighth-season frontrunner -- was defeated by Kris Allen during last month's live finale broadcast.
He subsequently signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings/RCA Records and is scheduled to record the album during this summer's annual American Idol concert tour, which kicks-off July 5 in Portland, OR. That album is currently scheduled to drop this fall.
