Gerry Dee was revealed to be the eighth finalist eliminated from Last Comic Standing's fifth season during last night's penultimate broadcast of the NBC reality competition series.

"Thanks to everyone back home... especially my wife," said an emotional Gerry after Last Comic Standing host Bill Bellamy revealed he had been eliminated on the cusp of the finals.

The Toronto, ON-native was sent packing based on the results of home viewer voting that followed last week's performance episode broadcast, which saw the season's Top 3 finalists -- Gerry, Lavell Crawford, and Jon Reep -- each deliver a stand-up routine.  In addition, Gerry was the last "international" Last Comic Standing 5 finalist remaining in the competition.

Last night's penultimate Last Comic Standing 5 episode began with a heated reward challenge.  Bill said that each of the Top 3 had 24 hours to come up with the best one-liners they could, then during last night's broadcast, they had 90 seconds to deliver them.  When each comic ran out of one-liners they had to step to the side, with the comedian left at the end of the 90-seconds receiving a trophy.

Gerry and Jon both delivered one-liners, however Lavell was simply piggybacking on their jokes instead of creating his own.  Gerry apparently had enough and decided to turn the tables on Lavell.

"I have a knock-knock joke for Lavell.  Lavell, you start it," said Gerry.

"Yeah..." said a confused Lavell.  "Knock-knock."

"Who's there?," answered Gerry. 

"I don't know," said Lavell, to which Gerry said, "I don't know who?"

Seemingly annoyed, Lavell said, "Come on man..." before launching into some of his routine the next time it was his turn to deliver a one-liner.

"That doesn't count!  That's cheating!" yelled Gerry and Jon.  Since all Top 3 finalists remained -- even though Lavell never really told any one-liners -- Bill said it would be up to the audience to decide who won based on applause.  Of course, the audience awarded the challenge and trophy to Lavell.

Last night's broadcast also included stand-up routines by former Last Comic Standing second-season finalist Kathleen Madigan; Whose Line Is It Anyway? star Greg Proops; and comedian Gilbert Gottfried.

Following Gerry's elimination, which came towards the end of the broadcast, both Jon and Lavell delivered their final stand-up routine performances of the season.  Home viewers in the U.S., U.K., Australia and Canada were allowed to vote for either Jon or Lavell following last night's broadcast. 

Last Comic Standing 5's live two-hour finale will air on Wednesday, September 19 at 9PM ET/PT.  The winner will receive a grand prize package that includes a talent contract deal with NBC, a Bravo half-hour comedy special and $250,000.
