According to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, this week’s 10 PM ET telecast of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” averaged 2.2 million adult 25-54 viewers, 2.2 million adult 18-49 viewers, 2.9 million total viewers and a 2.83 household rating. These are new records in every category, breaking marks established by “Queer Eye” July 29 of 2.1 million 25-54 viewers, 2.1 million 18-49 viewers, 2.8 million total viewers and a 2.50 household rating.
The episode’s record in 25-54 viewers is more than three times the pre-“Queer Eye” Bravo record (695,000), the new 18-49 viewer record is nearly four times the pre-“Queer Eye” record (580,000) and the new total viewer mark is nearly double the pre-“Queer Eye” record (1.4 million).
“Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” was the #1 program on all of basic cable all day on Tuesday among 25-54 and 18-49 viewers.
“The most talked-about show of the summer is reaching whole new levels in its ratings performance,” said Jeff Gaspin, President, Bravo, “And we’re thrilled to see it’s energizing the entire Bravo schedule.” Since the premiere of “Queer Eye,” Bravo is up by substantial margins versus its season-to-date 25-54 averages on every night of the week.
“Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” is an unscripted lifestyle makeover series featuring Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Carson Kressley and Jai Rodriguez, collectively known as the “The Fab Five,” a team of gay men, all experts in their respective fields of food & wine, grooming, interior design, fashion and culture. Their weekly mission: employ all the tools of their trade to cultivate a better straight man.
Since last week’s telecast, “Queer Eye” has been carried on NBC’s Thursday night schedule in a special 10 PM ET telecast Aug. 14 and the “Fab Five” appeared on the Thursday and Friday telecasts of “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.” Because of disruptions caused by last week’s massive power failure, Nielsen considers ratings for those programs “breakouts” and has not included them in standard network averages.
