Lauren Conrad is expanding her reality-TV inspired collection of novels.

The former The Hills and Laguna Beach star has signed a new deal with HarperCollins to continue her best-selling "L.A. Candy" young adult fiction series with a second trilogy of books, Us Weekly reported Tuesday.
Unlike her initial "L.A. Candy" trilogy -- which largely mirrored Conrad's own life and followed a fictional 19-year-old girl named Jane Roberts as she moved to Hollywood and found herself starring in her own reality show -- the new "The Fame Game" trilogy will center on Madison Parker, a supporting "L.A. Candy" character who attempts to become a star in her own right.
"We took the mean girl of the ["L.A. Candy" books], spinning her off," Conrad told Us.
Madison will find fame by backstabbing family and friends, seeking out paparazzi and participating in multiple media scandals, according to Us.

"This series is about a girl who loves everything that fame is, and that's all she's ever really wanted," Conrad said. "[Madison] has fun with the press, she enjoys the attention, she welcomes scandal!"
Although Madison appears to reflect the history and personality of Conrad's former The Hills co-star Heidi Montag, the 25-year-old is continuing to insist her fictional characters aren't directly based on her former co-stars.
"No. We have fun with it! We kind of take [Hollywood] stereotypes," Conrad explained.
While many viewers and readers would assume the business-savvy professional has little free time to spare, Conrad -- who inked her original three-book deal in September 2008 and released her first novel in June 2009 -- said she has a nightly window for writing.
"Between 11PM and 2AM," Conrad added. "My phone doesn't ring, and there's nothing on TV!"

Conrad's boyfriend, actor Kyle Howard, is apparently also very supportive of her work and endeavors.
"He read my first book, which was very sweet," Conrad joked in reference to her "L.A. Candy" series. "I told him he didn't have to read the rest. I don't think he's the target market!"
