Leah Remini's controversial Scientology series was renewed Wednesday for a second season.
"It became clear to us that although we were telling painful stories of former members of the Church of Scientology, this show was resonating strongly with people everywhere," Remini said. "This show is really about standing up for what is right and not letting bullies have their way."
"Our intention is to send a clear message to abusers that they will not go unchecked and will not be permitted to continue harming people without being questioned and challenged," she added.
"We felt compelled to proceed with another season to continue to reveal truths and seek justice for all victims."
"Scientology and the Aftermath" completed a nine-episode first season in January.The show sees Remini, a former member of Scientology, interview others about their experience with the church and the lasting impact it had on their lives.
"The way the organization has responded without taking responsibility for what they do to people, I need to continue," the actress told The Hollywood Reporter.
It described the show as "nothing more than a scripted, rehearsed, acted and dramatized work of fiction."
