Like its first season, the second season of Dance Moms will continue to follow dance studio owner and instructor Abby Lee Miller, her students and their mothers.

"From Abby Lee Miller's intensity and her students' incredible performances to their devoted moms and its high drama, Dance Moms has become one of the most compelling shows on television. It has struck a clear chord, hooking in die-hard fans clamoring for more, and we're excited to bring Dance Moms back for them," Lifetime's president Nancy Dubuc said in a statement.

Dance Moms' second season will also continue to spotlight Pittsburgh's renowned Abby Lee Dance Company and chronicle Miller and her dancers as they attempt to take on the world of competitive dance by pursuing National Dance titles, rehearsing daily and traveling around the United States for weekly competitions.

Lifetime has ordered 13 second-season episodes of Dance Moms, which has averaged 1.6 million total viewers and a median viewer age of 38 during its first season, making the series the network's youngest skewing original program.

Dance Moms is produced by Collins Avenue with Jeff Collins, Bryan Stinson, John R. Corella, Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy, and Kimberly Chessler serving as executive producers.
