Rapper Kimberly Denise "Lil' Kim" Jones and professional partner Derek Hough became the ninth couple eliminated from Dancing with the Stars' eighth season during last night's live results show broadcast on ABC.

Jones and Hough were eliminated from the competition based on a combination of the judges' scores they had received for the two dances they had performed on Monday night's performance show and the home viewer votes that were cast immediately following the broadcast.

"This is one of the greatest experiences I've experienced in my life," Jones said following her elimination. "I'm glad --  I think I even brought different viewers because I know people who've never watched the show and they watched the show and it's become this huge [thing].  This is a great experience."

"I love this girl so much, she has been one of my favorites, by far," Hough said about Jones.  "She is just the most amazing person.  Amazing soul.  Amazing spirit.  And of course, amazing dancer.  I love you so much."

Champion bull rider Ty Murray and his partner Chelsie Hightower had finished last on Monday night's judges' leaderboard and were the other couple still in danger of elimination when Jones and Hough's ouster was revealed.

Unlike earlier weeks in which the show had carefully noted the final two couples facing elimination were not necessarily the week's two lowest ranked couples, Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron repeatedly announced that Jones and Hough and Murray and Hightower were this week's bottom two couples.

"Lil' Kim and Derek and Ty and Chelsie are in the bottom two [and] one of them is going home tonight," Bergeron said before announcing the elimination of Jones and Hough, who had finished in fourth place on Monday night's judges' leaderboard.

Jilted The Bachelor winner Melissa Rycroft and her professional partner Tony Dovolani had finished in first place on the overall judges' leaderboard with 57 out of 60 points after receiving 26 points for their quickstep and a perfect 30 points for their samba.

Sex and the City actor Gilles Marini and his partner Cheryl Burke and Olympic gold medalist gymnast Shawn Johnson and her partner Mark Ballas had tied for second place on the overall judges' leaderboard with 56 out of 60 points.

Marini and Burke had received 29 points for their foxtrot performance and 27 points for their rumba routine while Johnson and Ballas had received 27 points for their quickstep routine and 29 points for their paso doble performance.

Jones and Hough had received 52 out of 60 points from the judges -- 25 points for their waltz and 27 points for their salsa. 

Murray and Hightower had received 46 out of 60 points from the judges -- 25 points for their Argentine tango and 21 points for their rumba.

In addition to Jones and Hough's elimination, the Dancing with the Stars results show broadcast also featured the three remaining dancers who are competing for a spot as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars' ninth season --  Afton Delgrosso, Anna Demidova and Mayo Alanen -- performing with the celebrity partner they'd spent the week training.

Delgrosso and Demidova performed with seventh-season Dancing with the Stars contestants Cody Linley and Maurice Greene respectively while Alanen performed with second-season contestant Lisa Rinna.

One additional dancer will be eliminated based on the results of Tuesday night's home viewer voting on next week's broadcasts and the final two will then face-off for home viewer votes to determine which one will receive the spot on Dancing with the Stars ninth-season professional roster.
