"I think from the very, very beginning, [Steele Dewald] and I got along great, but I know that I came on too strong and because of that, it hurt me. So, I did have a chance at going to another adventure with Peter, and then just like that, it was gone because this idiot decided to choose someone who wasn't going to choose him. But the hope I'm going to take away from this is that I have a lot of things going for me and I'm a good person, and I know that I'm not going to be alone for that much longer," Vanessa, a 26-year-old law student from Phoenix, AZ said following her ouster.
Love in the Wild's second episode began following the eliminations of Dawn Christjaener, a 27-year-old in hotel guest services from Scottsdale, AZ and Jared Ines, a 28-year-old MBA student from Los Angeles, CA.
Love in the Wild host Darren McMullen then met with the remaining nine single men and nine single women who are looking for love while undertaking a series of adventurous activities in the hopes of winning luxurious rewards.
Darren explained that each man and woman who paired up during the premiere episode's first Couples Choice Ceremony would remain partners for their second jungle adventure and later get to option to change partners based on the order they completed the adventure.
Last week's initial Couples Choice Ceremony had given each couple the option to remain paired with the person they had been partnered with when the competition began or attempt to select a new partner based upon the order of which they finished the first challenge.
Samantha Woods, a 23-year-old wedding planner from Huntington Beach, CA and Mike Spiro, a 29-year-old commercial real estate broker from San Francisco, CA, began the initial ceremony by opting to remain together.
Benjamin Hooker, a 27-year-old MBA graduate from Charleston, SC and Heather Pond, a 26-year-old public relations professional from Sonoma, CA had then decided to switch partners. Ben chose Brandee Dillehay, a 25-year-old mental health specialist from Nashville, TN and then Heather selected Miles Haefner, a 28-year-old client services manager from Saint Louis Park, MN.
Adam Rose, a 25-year-old bouncer from Taunton, MA, left without Brandee, had then selected Kym Nguyen, a 24-year-old hairstylist from Quincy, MA, while Theresa Trujillo, a 24-year-old hooters girl and real estate agent from San Jose, CA and Peter had also chose to split up.
Peter had opted to compete with Jess Debolt, a 24-year-old travel executive from San Francisco, CA, while Theresa had requested the company of Skip Sullivan, a 30-year-old loan underwriter from Milton, MA.
Jessica Soares, a 23-year-old retail supervisor from Bridgewater, MA, after Skip left her, had chose to pair up with Derek Leach, a 28-year-old medical sales representative from Venice, CA, and Erica Scherle, a 24-year-old self-employed songwriter manager from Nashville, TN -- solo once Miles chose otherwise -- had selected Jason Jackson, a 28-year-old in sales from San Francisco, CA.
Vanessa and Steele, a 24-year-old pro golfer from Scottsdale, AZ, had decided to remain a couple after they seemed to click, which left Dawn and Jared eliminated as the last couple standing.
Love in the Wild's second episode featured the nine couples learning their second adventure challenge required them to walk a maze of paths and bridges that hung hundreds of feet high above the jungle floor. The maze of bridges consisted of an intricate series of paths, which would make it easy for the couples to get lost since they were not allowed navigation maps.

The couples also faced the possibility of falling off the bridges together, as each pair had to attach themselves to each other with tethers. They were required to collect six tethers hidden along the maze, strap their belts together using the tethers, and remain attached throughout the entire challenge.
Adam and Kym finished the course in first place after they reached the end of the maze with all six tethers attached before any of the other couples, winning a night alone together at the Oasis, a helicopter ride and five-star lunch portraying some of the "most breathtaking views on earth," and immunity at the subsequent Couples Choice elimination Ceremony, according to Darren.
Following Adam and Kym were Peter and Jess, Ben and Brandee, Theresa and Skip, Samantha and Mike, Erica and Jason, Miles and Heather, Steele and Vanessa, and finally Derek and Jessica.
Vanessa became aware that since her pair had just avoided arriving in last place, she might be facing elimination. Although she got along well with Steele at first, the couple got frustrated with each other during the challenge and their relationship grew increasingly awkward.
As a result, Vanessa asked Peter to request her partnership at the ceremony and he agreed to the proposition. However, Peter felt a connection with Erica and desired to get to know her better instead -- a decision that would end up sealing both Vanessa and his own fates in the competition.
While Adam and Kym enjoyed their time at the Oasis and shared their lunch the next day, the rest of the couples spent time getting to know each other in their less plush cabins, or bungalows.
Later on, Love in the Wild's second Couples Choice Ceremony commenced.
Darren gave all nine couples the same instructions as last week except for one twist. He announced the women would be given the option to stay with their own partners or switch and get to know someone else first, because the men were given that ability last week.

All the remaining couples' members were given the opportunity to decline a request to pair up with any castmate, but would risk elimination if not selected by another man or woman afterwards as the last man and woman without a match would be eliminated.
Kym, who wanted to explore other possible relationships, left Adam and picked Steele, while Adam -- now solo after Kym chose otherwise -- chose to pair up with Heather. This matchup then left Miles without a partner.
It was then Jess' turn, and she chose to leave Peter and select Derek. Afterward, Peter opted to pair up with Erica instead of honoring his pact with Vanessa, but Erica turned down his offer because she admitted she needed to find a stronger connection with someone in order to secure her stay in the rest of the competition.
Brandee chose to "stick it out" with Ben and "give it another shot," and Ben was happy to accept her quirky request. Following Brandee and Ben, Theresa chose to stay with her partner Skip, and Samantha and Mike opted to stay together as well.
Erica then switched to Miles, and Jason -- who Erica intentionally left behind -- selected Jessica to be his partner.
Vanessa and Peter were then left as the last single unmatched individuals standing, and they departed the competition.
