"On August 18th, Kendall and I agree our relationship was worth working on, and we were making plans for me to visit him in Dallas soon. However, today, on August 20th, he called and ended things," Nicole wrote.
"While I understand and respect his decision, it's hard to process this one. I opened up to him in the villa, and still love and care for him now."
She concluded, "I'm struggling mentally and all I ask for is privacy during this time."
Kendall subsequently shared a statement of his own, confirming he had dumped Nicole.
"I have decided to end things with Nicole. It reached a point where it was not healthy for us to continue the relationship," Kendall explained.
"I still love and care for Nicole. I've never developed such strong feelings for a woman in my life. I have no regrets for the connection I made with her in the villa and it was real."
Kendall then insisted that Nicole "does not deserve any hate," and he added, "Please stop with the negative comments/DMs. We're taking this time to focus on our mental health. Thank you guys."
Kendall and Nicole sparked a connection on Season 6 of the Peacock reality dating series. The pair finished in fourth place and said, "I love you," to each other during the show's July finale.
Later that month, Kendall and Nicole told Us Weekly that they were going to try out a long-distance relationship.
"It's good that she lives in California because I have a lot of family there -- my sister and my mom are in California," Kendall, who lives in Dallas, shared with the magazine.
"So it's a win-win situation when I go there. I get to see Nicole and I also get to see my family. I know my family eventually wants me to move back to California so my mom, specifically, is excited that Nicole is from there."

Nicole, however, took to social media earlier this month and explained how life had not been "easy" since leaving the Love Island villa.
"There's much more to share on what has happened since coming home, and for now, I've been taking time to process -- these are real feelings and my real life," Nicole said.
Nicole and Kendall then filmed the Love Island USA reunion show on August 14, and viewers were able to hear more about the pair's post-show issues when it became available for streaming on Monday, August 19.
"It's been a bit tough on the outside," Kendall explained, according to Us. "Just trying to communicate..."
"Communicate?" Nicole interjected. "You have not been communicating. You never have been."
Kendall claimed they had been trying to "give each other space," to which Nicole snapped, "After you lied to my face?"
The pair then discussed the video of Kendall nude in a hotel room that had leaked on the same day Love Island USA's finale aired.
"I just want to say something. Obviously, the video is not okay. Nobody deserves that. Everybody in this room can agree, it's f-cked up," Nicole reportedly said.

Kendall had previously shared of the video in July on Instagram Stories, "I just want to address the content that came out from my past. That was something I shared to someone in confidence and trust. It's unfortunate that it's no longer private but it is what it is."
During the reunion, Nicole was upset Kendall hadn't checked on her or defended her publicly amid the scandal. Most of the cast, however, supported Kendall.
"This just puts me in such a f-cked position because I care about you too and I love you and people are questioning that," Nicole fired back at the time.
"Even though you let the world think we're not together, we're still together."
