Maksim Chmerkovskiy's return to Dancing with the Stars for "Disney Night" unfortunately appears unlikely.

While blogging about her journey with The Bachelor star Nick Viall on Dancing with the Stars' currently-airing 24th season, Peta Murgatroyd provided fans with an update on her fiance's recovery.

"I know Maks was hoping to be back on the dance floor this week, but I don't think that's going to be happening," Peta wrote on Monday, hours before Dancing with the Stars is set to air its next live performance show on ABC.

Maksim tore the calf muscle in his right leg last month. After undergoing surgery to help speed up the healing process, Maksim has been working hard to make a comeback on the show.

In the meantime, Dancing with the Stars Troupe member Alan Bersten has been dancing with Maksim's celebrity partner Heather Morris, who previously starred on Glee and served as a backup dancer for Beyonce.

"At home, he's dancing around a little and is able to put more and more weight on his leg," Peta revealed, "but he's not fully back to where he was before his injury."

Maksim suffered the injury during a Week 2 rehearsal for the reality dancing competition. While practicing a spin move with Heather, he started yelping in pain and hopping around on one leg. By the look on Heather's face, she knew in that moment her pro partner was in trouble.

"I'm really hoping -- and I know he's hoping -- to be back fully next week!" Peta said of Maksim, who is the father of her three-month-old son Shai Aleksander.

Alan seems prepared to take the stage with Heather for "Disney Night." He shared a photo of the couple dancing in the ballroom and captioned the image: "I can't wait till @disney night on @dancingabc you better get ready for an amazing show!!!"

Heather and Alan will be dancing a jazz routine to "For the First Time in Forever" by Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell from the classic film Frozen on the upcoming April 17 Dancing with the Stars broadcast. Peta and Nick are also set to perform a jazz number to "I've Got No Strings" from Pinocchio.

"I think Pinocchio is a great character for Nick because, in the past, he's gotten some comments about being a little stiff. This week, that natural stiffness is going to work in our favor as part of the character!" Peta wrote in her People blog.

"I think that Nick is feeling more confident after last week's [Most Memorable Year] performance and I'm hoping we can continue our trend of getting better and better scores!"
