Maria Menounos has acknowledged her rib injuries are more significant than she suggested during Monday night's Dancing with the Stars performance show.

Menounos -- who broke two ribs while attempting a stunt with professional partner Derek Hough during dance rehearsal earlier this month -- has revealed her injuries "could take months" to heal.

"I having shots and taking calcium and other vitamins," the Dancing with the Stars participant told Us Weekly after Monday night's show.

"The doctors said they can feel the bone growing and it's a good sign. The doctor told me to rest, but I said there is no way I can quit. I have been just doing the best I can."

The Extra host said she's been taking the necessary precautions to avoid worsening her condition, including icing her body and relaxing in hot baths after dance rehearsals and performances.

"Once I get home, I get in a hot tub and in an Epsom salt bath. I can't believe how dangerous dancing is! I told Derek, 'I don't understand! I played ice hockey, football, basketball -- when did I get so fragile?' Unfortunately the Hough's too rough!" Menounos told Us.

In addition, Menounos is also icing regularly and avoiding driving.

"I'm icing when I get home. My friend Joe drives me from rehearsals and I have a pedicure station with ice in it in my car, so I ice my whole body down."

While Menounos doesn't seem to be too worried about her physical state, Hough is reportedly "a little concerned."

However, the entertainment reporter has no intention to give up on the competition and is continuing to maintain an optimistic attitude.

"I kept saying, 'We are not talking about this! We are dancing. I am having the best time of my life and I need to power through,'" she explained.

Menounos and Hough finished tied for fifth place with Sherri Shepherd and partner Val Chmerkovskiy on Monday night's two-week judging leaderboard after the couple danced a quickstep that received 25 points from the Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli and left them with a two-week total of 46 points.

Dancing with the Stars' first fourteenth-season live results show will air tonight on ABC at 9PM ET/PT.
