"She ABSOLUTELY DID NOT lip-sync," the American Idol judge's spokesperson told E! News. "She performed LIVE in front of several thousands of people!!!! (and did it 3 times!!)."

Speculation that Carey had lip-synced when she performed a seven-minute melody of some of her greatest hits during American Idol's finale had surfaced after her vocal movements appeared to not match the audio viewers heard at home.

According to X17 Online, Carey's performance was actually recorded prior to American Idol's live finale and merely broadcast by Fox during the finale as the studio audience also watched the pre-recorded video.

Carey's spokesperson confirmed the performance was pre-recorded, telling E! News the Idol judge had actually performed the melody three times when it was filmed.

"No LIP-SYNCING whatsoever! She did 3 takes and thrilled the crowd with singing little songs in between that we're [sic] NOT part of her medley," she stated.

Fox had no comment when contacted by E! News about possible audio broadcast issues.
