The Golden Bachelorette bachelor Mark Anderson has opened up about the "spark" he felt with Joan Vassos while getting to know her on the show.

"Any time I talk with Joan, there's a spark," Mark gushed to Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt during a recent episode of the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast.

"Because she's just that kind of person! She is just a wonderful and beautiful woman -- inside and out."

The 57-year-old Army veteran from Leesville, LA, called Joan "fantastic," and he added, "She's so articulate and just so fantastic."

Mark said kissing Joan made him feel like he was age "13 or 14" again and that it felt very "natural" and nice.

"I was nervous, because you get to the point where you don't really notice the cameras around you," Mark explained.

"You just kind of void it out, and it was easy to do that with Joan because she's right there and she just fills [a room]."

Mark recalled how he and Joan actually had an instant connection on Night 1 of the process.

"At first, going in, I didn't know if I was the first person or the last person. But when I got up there, it was like it was just her and I," Mark shared.

"And speaking with her, it was just her and I. You never thought about anybody else because she made me the most important person there."

Mark said getting to know Joan was "great."

Mark first appeared on Joey Graziadei's season of The Bachelor, which filmed late last year and aired in early 2024.

Joey met Mark when he traveled to New Orleans for Kelsey Anderson's hometown date, and the whole world fell in love with Mark's big smile and kind heart.

As a widower, Mark realized it was time to search for love himself, and so he joined Joan's cast of The Golden Bachelorette.

Mark and Joan were shown having a deep conversation on the latest The Golden Bachelorette episode about how they felt a little guilty about dating after the loss of their spouses, Denise Anderson and John Vassos, respectively.

Both Joan and Mark had lost their partners to cancer, but Joan said being around Mark -- who called The Golden Bachelorette "the best therapy" for him -- helped her not dwell on the past.

While Mark has yet to receive a one-on-one date with Joan on the show, ABC recently released a preview of Joan apparently telling Mark, "I love you."

Joan gushed about how she actually "fell in love" with most of her sweet senior suitors during a recent appearance on Jason Tartick's "Trading Secrets" podcast.

"To be truly honest with you, I formed connections with most of these men. There is a thing about older men when they're vulnerable and you just want to take care of them!" Joan gushed.

Joan said she formed "amazing friendships" with her The Golden Bachelorette cast of single guys.

"I feel like I left [the men] knowing them so deeply," Joan shared.

"So I fell in love with probably 24 men, to be honest. They were just such great men, and it was such a privilege to be with them and to have them share their lives with me. And I shared mine back!"

The 61-year-old private school administrator and mother elaborated, "It's crazy being on this show. You reveal a lot of stuff to total strangers really soon, but you form these really strong bonds because you do that."

As for whether Joan found true love -- and The One -- she teased of her season's ending: "I left the show exactly where I think I need to be."

Joan concluded that "life has a way of unfolding the way it's supposed to" and she believes that her journey on The Golden Bachelorette "really did."

Joan has made cryptic comments about her The Golden Bachelorette ending in the last month or so, and she's been reluctant to share specifics about whether she found the man of her dreams.

Joan previously shared with Us Weekly that she found "all different kinds of love" on The Golden Bachelorette.

And when asked to spill more details about how her journey concluded on The View, Joan said, "I feel like everybody's journey is completely different, including mine."

Joan added, "Mine ended in a unique way, but the way it ended makes me very happy."

But Joan couldn't get away with that response when talking to several curious women.

When The View's co-hosts pushed Joan to reveal if she found love on the show, Joan quipped, "I am smiling!"

Joan recently told People that she had hoped to leave The Golden Bachelorette "in a committed relationship" but she wasn't necessarily banking on getting engaged.

"I said all along I didn't need to leave engaged," Joan told the magazine.
