Mark Ballas may miss another Dancing with the Stars performance with his celebrity partner Paige VanZant.

Ballas had to sit out of VanZant's performance last week on the show due to a back injury he suffered during a rehearsal. While fans were hoping to see the pro dancer back on the dance floor for Monday night's April 4 broadcast, that may not be the case.

After doctors ran several scans to determine the severity of his injury, Ballas gave E! News an update.

"[They] still haven't made the decision," Ballas explained on Friday in terms of whether he received permission to dance tonight for the "Most Memorable Year" theme. "They cleared me. There's no fracture, thank god, but there is something -- other things going on that we're just being careful of."

Because Ballas' condition is still up in the air, DWTS Troupe member Alan Bersten has been practicing with VanZant for days so he'll be ready to fill in again if necessary. Bersten took the stage at the last minute with VanZant last week.

"We're tag-teaming... I've been shadowing and figuring it out as we go... I'm getting in there, but I'm not doing it 100 yet," Ballas told E! News.

The circumstances have been tough for VanZant to adapt to, however, she still managed to tie for first place on the judges' leaderboard with Bersten last week. The UFC fighter and Bersten delivered a successful salsa routine for "Latin Night" that received 24 out of 30 points from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman.
