Married at First Sight's prior couples aren't buying Matthew Gwynne's explanations for what he was doing and whom he was with during his disappearing acts on wife Amber Bowles throughout the show's ninth season.

The couples couldn't help but question Matt's claims once he and Amber reunited two months after "Decision Day" during Lifetime's September 19 broadcast of Married at First Sight: Couples Couch, which features former MAFS couples offering commentary on encore broadcasts of the show's ninth season.
"I bet he's dreading today," Danielle said of Matt having to see Amber again after the pair mutually decided to get a divorce.
"He's about to get f-cking owned!" Bobby noted.
"Oh boy, it's about to go down!" Jamie said.
"She really, really loved him," Doug acknowledged.
"Yeah, she really, really liked him a lot. You can tell," Jamie agreed. "She forgave him for far too much."

Matt and Amber's problems seemed to begin when Matt disappeared for 24 hours fairly early in the eight-week experiment. When Matt spoke to Married at First Sight expert Dr. Pepper Schwartz about his behavior, Jamie mocked how Matt had claimed it was just "one time, one night."
"But then he did it again," Danielle pointed out.
Matt and Amber had a few good times during their marriage, such as when Matt sang her a song he had written for their one-month anniversary.

But Kristine and Ashley apparently didn't think the song was sweet or genuine.
Kristine laughed out loud at the song, and then Ashley admitted, "This is the worst song ever. You should've left right now, Amber! You should've been, like, 'I'm out!'"
Watching footage back of Amber crying over Matt throughout the eight-week experiment, Jamie said, "This is so awkward; I can't even watch."
"Matt was like, 'Let's just get through [Decision Day] so I can move on," Danielle suggested. "I hope she's with that guy, [Raven], her friend."
Amber told the reunion special's host Kevin Frazier that Matt has everything a woman would want in a husband, recalling how he's artistic, creative, and athletic.
"Whoa, that is NOT everything I want in a husband. I want loyalty, respect, love!" Jamie exclaimed.
"Those are [dumb]," Doug joked with his wife. "As long as you have art and athleticism, you're fine."

"Then why did you keep stringing her along if you figured it out early?!" Jamie vented.
When Matt claimed he actually knew his marriage would fail within the first 15 minutes of meeting Amber, Ashley yelled, "What?! Oh my God."
"What?!" Bobby exclaimed.
Amber therefore called Matt out, asking why he had slept with her "on Day 2" if he wasn't into her.
"Or say later that he was in it for the long run," Danielle noted.
"Yeah, he slept with on her Day 2 but knew in, like, the first 15 seconds?" Bobby joked.
Matt insisted he had hope his relationship with Amber could grow all along and so he wasn't toying with her feelings.
"But if you weren't playing with her emotions, what exactly were you doing?" Kristine asked.
"Or he was playing with the experts," Keith said.
Kevin asked Matt what was going through his head when he first left Amber alone in their apartment over night for the first time.
"At that point, we didn't really know each other, so I didn't really know..." Matt began to explain.
"No, you weren't thinking," Doug noted. "That's what you say: 'I wasn't thinking.'"

After Matt said he didn't know how leaving his wife for the night would affect her, Jamie mocked his comment and repeated it with a laugh.
"He wouldn't know how it would affect her, ahh, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out she wouldn't be happy you didn't come home and you left your ring at home!" Jamie exclaimed, referencing how Matt stayed out all night without his wedding ring.
"Such an artsy answer," Doug joked.
In terms of Matt getting caught with another woman at a bar, Matt explained that if he sees someone out whom he knows, he's going to talk to that person.
"Bullsh-t!" Ashley yelled.
"He's so tall he can see everybody in the bar," Doug said. "Except for Amber's best friend [Raven]!"
Amber said she was also humiliated at work because a fellow teacher showed her Matt had been texting a friend of hers and asking the woman out while married.
Matt, however, claimed the woman he had been in contact with "just a friend."
"Just a friend?! He's married!" Keith said.
Matt insisted Amber didn't know the girl he left the bar with, but Amber said she did.
"Obviously she knows," Bobby predicted based on the confident expression on Amber's face.

The other Season 9 Married at First Sight couple who chose to divorce on "Decision Day" were Iris Caldwell and Keith Manley. Iris hoped to continue her marriage, but Keith blindsided her and revealed he wanted to split.
The two couples who chose to stay together were Elizabeth Bice and Jamie Thompson as well as Deonna McNeill and Gregory Okotie.
