Married at First Sight star Amber Bowles scolded her husband Matthew Gwynne for planning to use the guest bathroom in their new apartment, and the situation has sparked a debate among cast members, with Pastor Calvin Roberson suggesting her abandonment issues played a big role in her outburst.

As shown on a recent episode of Married at First Sight's ninth season on Lifetime, when Bowles and Gwynne moved into their new apartment together following their honeymoon, Gwynne unpacked his toiletries-- including his cologne and hair products -- in the guest bathroom, planning to give Amber the master bathroom.

But instead of appreciating her space in the master bathroom, Bowles sternly told Gwynne they're married now and not just roommates. Bowles appeared offended Gwynne would want privacy rather than sharing everything as husband and wife.
During the latest episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, a discussion broke out amongst host Jamie Otis, Roberson, and Bowles and Gwynne's Season 9 co-stars Jamie Thompson and Keith Manley.

"It seemed like she got a little overheated," Thompson said.
"I mean, I can see where [Amber is] coming from, but maybe that was a little much. [It could've] maybe [been] a conversation, like, 'Hey, do you think maybe we could share a bathroom? That would be more married-like.'"
Otis, however, took Bowles' side in the situation, although Gwynne seemed to think his actions were harmless at the time of filming.
"I mean, like, I get it though, because [Matt]'s like, 'We are roommates AND married,' which, I don't know, doesn't sit well with me," Otis admitted.
Manley then announced he agreed with Thompson on this subject.

"I think that could've been handled a little differently," Manley explained.
"I know if [my wife Iris Caldwell] had come at me like, 'Are we roommates or are we married?' It would've kind of given me -- I don't know. It's about how you say things sometimes."

But Otis' take on the topic seemed to resonate more with Roberson, who has been happily married for years.
"It's interesting to hear the guys' perspective, because I had a totally different reaction to watching that clip," Otis said.

"I agree with you," the pastor told Otis.
"You do?!" Otis shouted with glee.
"I do," Roberson noted. "Sorry fellas."
Roberson went on to explain, "My wife would probably say something if I went into another bathroom and started using it. She'd say, 'What are you doing?'"
"Yeah, exactly," Otis responded.

"Yeah, I mean, when you're married, you don't get space," Roberson said.
"Yes, I think Matt probably should've talked to her about it first," Manley chimed in.
"He should've said something," Roberson agreed.
"This is a little different also because Amber has a fear of being abandoned. That was something she had experienced and that we knew going into [the experiment]. So, it's a little different for her."
Thompson and Manley nodded their heads in agreement and said, "Right."
Otis then asked Thompson how he'd react had he been in Gwynne's position with his wife Elizabeth Bice.
"I don't know! Because, again, I see Amber's point, but it seemed like she kind of just came at him. And I would've been like, 'You know what? I'm just going to step away from this for a minute,'" Thompson explained.

But Otis made it clear she disagreed with Thompson again.
"You really feel like she came at him?" Otis asked.
Thompson laughed and asked the guys to help him out. But Roberson just threw his hands up into the air and forced Manley to continue the conversation.

"I think Matt should've spoke with her about it before moving his stuff into the second bathroom. I think both of them could've handled it differently," Manley said.
"Playing devil's advocate because he's not here -- I'm like, 'Maybe he just wants to poop in his own bathroom?' I mean that could very well be it," Otis suggested.
"I don't know. That's the thought of marriage, is pooping in the same bathroom," Roberson reasoned.
After the cast laughed, Manley told Roberson not to say that to Caldwell because she wouldn't go for that.
"We've got separate bathrooms just solely because of that," Manley revealed of his Married at First Sight wife.
"That's the biggest part of marriage, man!" Roberson joked.
Otis then pointed out the cast members got to know each other very well that day.
In addition to Thompson, Bice, Manley, Caldwell, Bowles and Gwynne, Married at First Sight's currently-airing season also stars Deonna McNeill and Gregory Okotie.
