Married at First Sight fans may be disappointed because Season 4 couple, Sonia Granados and Nick Pendergrast, are filing for divorce.

The couple announced the unfortunate news by posting a joint statement Wednesday, March 22 on both of their Twitter accounts.
"We are sad to share that after almost a year of marriage we have decided to separate and file for divorce," the statement read. "Thank you in advance for your love and support through this difficult time! We look forward to growing and continuing to learn about ourselves from what we still consider to be a meaningful experience with MAFS."
Sonia added that viewers should not "be discouraged" because of the split considering "a love story" still unfolded.
Sonia and Nick tied the knot last year on Married at First Sight, which premiered its fourth season in July 2016. The pair ultimately decided to stay together on "Decision Day" following the extreme six-week experiment.

Although the newlyweds were very fond of each other at the time, their relationship wasn't without its share of major challenges.
For instance, Nick had once lost Sonia's trust by telling her that he wasn't attracted to her after having sex, which prompted her to move out after a blowout fight. Sonia also had a fear of dogs when Nick was crazy about the dog he owned.
During the show's October 2016 finale, Nick and Sonia sat down with Married at First Sight experts Dr. Pepper Schwartz and Rachel DeAlto to discuss their romance progress or lack thereof. Nick said his biggest takeaway from the experiment was learning how to be more empathetic and understanding, while Sonia became a better communicator.
"I think we've come a long way and we're in a good place and moving forward in the right direction," Nick told Sonia, adding that he was still learning more about his wife and how to be a good husband. "But I want to continue our marriage and I do want to stay married to you."
It was then Sonia's turn to explain her decision on whether or not to get a divorce from her new husband.

"We've had a lot of ups and downs, and I have moved back in, but I just -- there's just a lot of things that led me not to trust you," Sonia said, before taking a breath. "And I feel like, um, I would like to stay married to you."
Nick was thrilled to hear this news, telling the cameras, "She's come a long way. To be able to forgive me shows a lot about her and shows that she's willing to work on this relationship."
As for Married at First Sight's other Season 4 couples, Heather Seidel and Derek Schwartz parted ways before the experiment was even over, but Lillian Vilchez and Tom Wilson, on the other hand, are still together and married to this day.
