Iris Caldwell and Keith Manley from the Charlotte, NC, area appeared on Season 9 of Married at First Sight in 2019.
Iris and Keith had a steady, stable and strong relationship throughout the Married at First Sight experiment. They made a great team and seemed to become best friends over time.
However, Iris was a virgin when she joined the show, and Keith worried his wife lacked relationship experience as well as emotional maturity.
Keith simply didn't think they were on the same page or that Iris was necessarily ready to give herself away, and so they never consummated their marriage during the eight-week experiment.
Iris and Keith continued to get along great and support each other, but on "Decision Day," Keith shocked the world by choosing to get a divorce -- when Iris insisted she wanted to stay married.
Iris appeared blindsided and hurt by Keith's decision, but she planned to pick up the pieces of her failed marriage and move forward having learned many valuable life lessons.
In November 2019, Iris revealed she had not seen Keith since the Married at First Sight reunion was filmed.
"Last time I saw Keith was at reunion -- and that was months ago," she told her followers in an Instagram Stories video.
Iris also admitted she had a difficult time moving on from her relationship with Keith once cameras wrapped filming.
"So, for the first phase of our separation, it was really hard y'all. Like, I was growing in emotions with this guy and thinking about our future and babies," Iris explained.
"No," Iris replied during an Q&A season on Instagram Stories to a follower who asked if she and Keith were officially divorced yet.
"We have to wait like a year until the separation and then I can officially file and all that stuff. But nope, [we're not divorced]!"
Iris and Keith got married in March 2019 and the state of North Carolina requires a one-year separation period before filing for the type of no-fault divorce the couple is apparently seeking.
Iris and Keith therefore must be separated and living apart, in separate residences, for one year before proceeding with the divorce.
In a no-fault divorce, neither spouse reportedly has to prove the other person caused the demise of the marriage, resulting in faster and potentially more amicable proceedings.
In her Instagram Q&A videos, Iris also dodged a question about whether Keith's mother was to blame for how Keith treated her and their relationship going sour.
"Y'all are funny! I'm not answering that," Iris said.
When asked if Iris had been in touch with Keith at all, she sang the word "no" over and over again.
Iris has also repeatedly expressed interest in returning to reality TV on a Married at First Sight spinoff.
When an Instagram follower asked if she would be interested in appearing on a new season of Married at First Sight: Second Chances, she gave a very enthusiastic, "Yes!"
And in November 2019, she and fellow Married at First Sight Season 9 star Amber Bowles also publicly campaigned for their own spinoff.
