Married at First Sight expert Pastor Calvin Roberson says it's unfortunate Chris Williams reduced himself to being so superficial and his imagination of what he thinks he deserves is detached from reality.

Following a tumultuous few weeks of marriage and a lot of patience and effort on Paige Banks' part after discovering Chris' ex-fiancee Mercedes Myrick was pregnant, Chris decided he wanted a divorce from Paige before the couple even reached their one-month wedding anniversary.

Chris accused Paige of being a poor communicator off-camera, and Paige later told her brother that Chris had confessed he still loved Mercedes, whom he had been engaged to three months before signing up for Married at First Sight, and hoped to reconcile with her.
During Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, Pastor Cal and MAFS stars Clara Berghaus and Haley Harris watched back a Season 12 clip of Chris sitting down for a one-on-one chat with Pastor Cal after his relationship with Paige had ended.

"We do look good on paper for sure, but she's not the type of woman that I would say, 'Oh man, let me go and try to talk to her!'" Chris admits in the clip.
"Why not?" Pastor Cal asks.
"I think it would have to be the physical features, like, the face. I wasn't attracted to the face," Chris admits.
"And I'm not being disrespectful here, but there are so many beautiful Black queens, white queens and Spanish queens here in the city of Atlanta, and I just feel like out of all the millions of women here, y'all picked the one that was just like [subpar]."
Unfiltered host Jamie Otis -- who starred on Season 1 of Married at First Sight -- asked Pastor Cal why Chris thought it was okay to say those things about Paige.

"Because I don't know! I don't know. It's really unfortunate that he has reduced himself to being that superficial. Paige is a beautiful human being," Pastor Cal lamented.
"Inside and out," Haley interjected.
"Inside and out," Pastor Cal agreed.

"There is no question here!" Pastor Cal continued. "But his imagination of what he thinks he deserves is so far from reality. I believe that in this situation, it's a good thing that they did not stay together."

Pastor Cal noted of Paige, "She doesn't need that in her life."
When asked for her take on that Married at First Sight clip, Haley said, "Watching that back, I am disgusted. It hurts my heart for her; she's already been through so much."
"[Paige] is beautiful," Haley added, "and she is deserving of somebody that is so different than him."
And then Clara chimed in, "How many times were we asked [in casting], 'What if you're not attracted to the person?' How many times?!"
And Pastor Cal piggybacked Clara's sentiment and revealed he had definitely talked to Chris about attraction -- or the lack thereof -- during the matchmaking process.

"I asked him point blank about physical attraction. We ask all those questions!" Pastor Cal recalled.
Such discussions about attraction and chemistry with the experts, however, apparently helped both Haley and Clara in their respective marriages to Jacob Harder and Ryan Oubre.
"It's nice to hear that the experts think we are doing as well as we are," Clara shared.
"You know, we think we're doing really well, but it's nice to have that reaffirmed by the people who put us together. So that was really, really encouraging for us."
Pastor Cal concluded that he was "so proud" of both women, and Haley explained, "I think it's always good to talk out what you're feeling, and I can see that now."

"I think this process has helped me do that a lot," Haley confirmed.
"I think having our discussions with the experts has opened a lot of communication that maybe we didn't have, so at least it can help us be a little more positive moving forward."
After toying with Paige's emotions, Chris suggested they weren't good partners and so Paige decided to focus on herself and work on her self-love.
During an episode of Unfiltered that aired earlier this month, Dr. Viviana Coles admitted she felt "relieved" that Chris and Paige appeared to be over, adding, "I really want [Paige] to feel empowered finally for herself to make the choice to leave this marriage."
Fellow expert Dr. Pepper Schwartz even apologized to Paige for matching her with Chris in a recent episode.

"I thought that you guys were going to be a great couple. We all did. We thought we had somebody who was going to be the right partner, that everything on paper looked good, that what he told us looked good," Pepper explained.
"And we had no idea what a mess of a life he had behind the curtain... I want you to know that you're a superior human being. If he wasn't such an extraordinary narcissist -- I'm not going to mince words on my opinion -- he would recognize that. And I don't want you to take that garbage!"
Pepper said Paige deserved "so much better" and Chris didn't think about anybody but himself.
However, a preview of "Decision Day" aired on Married at First Sight: The Journey So Far and showed Chris telling the experts he and Paige were still "undecided" about whether to stay married or get a divorce.
The conversation clearly indicates Paige and Chris opted to give their relationship another shot at some point after Chris asked for a divorce for the second time.
