'Married at First Sight' recap: Bennett and Amelia say I love you, Olivia doesn't trust Brett, Amani nears love, and Henry's friend Kristin slams Christina

Married at First Sight featured Bennett Kirschner and Amelia Fatsi professing their love to each other, Olivia admitting she doesn't trust Brett Lindsey, Amani "approaching" love with Woody Randall, and Henry Rodriguez's friend Kristin revealing she couldn't picture his marriage to Christina lasting during Wednesday night's Season 11 episode on Lifetime.


Married at First Sight experts Pastor Calvin Roberson, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Dr. Viviana Coles matched five couples to marry at first sight on Season 11 of the reality series.

The couples starring on this season are Amelia, a 27-year-old medical resident from Richmond, VA, and Bennett, a 28-year-old artistic director from Montvale, NJ; Brett, a 35-year-old with a career in information technology from Gretna, LA, and Olivia, a 30-year-old nurse from Bossier City, LA; and Christina, a 30-year-old flight attendant from Houma, LA, and Henry, a 35-year-old clinical recruiter from Arabi, LA.

The other couples are Karen Landry, a 30-year-old consultant from New Orleans, LA, and Miles Williams, a 26-year-old who works with youth from Spartanburg, SC, as well as Amani, a 29-year-old non-profit worker who was raised in Chicago, IL, and Woody, a 30-year-old teacher and coach from New Orleans.

Married at First Sight, Episode 12

The Married at First Sight broadcast began on Day 29 of marriage, with Amelia calling Bennett a pillow thief in the night and Henry planning to take a walk with Christina.

Amani and Woody sat down and made a budget together while making breakfast and drinking mimosas, and Woody surprised her with her favorite yellow roses.

Woody suggested they could spend $150 on a date night each week, but Amani noted $600 a month was too much and they could go on more inexpensive dates such as going to a movie or just enjoying drinks at a bar.

Woody said he didn't want to spend more than $1,800 a month on rent but was willing to spend about $500-$1,000 a month on clothing and accessories. Amani was shocked to hear Woody spent so much on fashion, and she could tell he tended to spend money more frivolously.

Amani needed to know she and Woody could support each other financially, but Woody seemed willing to compromise in certain areas.

Brett and Olivia were then shown FaceTiming with Pastor Cal because their relationship had been pretty tense. Olivia said she felt "overwhelmed" at times in her marriage because she "couldn't fully understand" what Brett was thinking.

Olivia shared with Pastor Cal how Brett seemed to act like a different person when cameras were rolling vs. when cameras were off and she wanted to make sure her husband treated their relationship like a marriage rather than a TV show.

Brett said he was well aware they were starring on a TV show -- and saying otherwise would be naive -- but that didn't mean he was insincere in his marriage.

When asked to reveal the off-camera Brett, Olivia said, "He's a nice guy. He's caring, he's thoughtful and he's just Brett. But I feel like sometimes when the cameras are around it's a little bit extra and over-the-top sometimes."


Brett explained he tended to become more reserved off-camera because he was still getting to know Olivia and she misconstrued his concern over protecting them as a couple and being conscious of how they were portraying themselves to the world with him being artificial.

"I'm looking out for both of our best interests," Brett said.

Olivia felt Brett was just trying to look good on TV sometimes, but Brett responded, "If I was doing that, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now, because we wouldn't be having any of these arguments or anything because I would easily be able to navigate that situation by being fake and pretending that it's just a TV show."

Brett insisted he was being "very sincere" about everything, but Olivia admitted, "No, [I don't believe him]."

Pastor Cal asked Olivia why she didn't believe Brett, and she had trouble coming up with an answer at first.


"It's just confusing. It's confusing. And maybe it's the sarcasm that [causes the problem]," Olivia shared.

Pastor Cal said it would take some getting used to for the couple to take the cameras out of their minds, and Olivia said she just wanted to make sure Brett was doing the experiment for the right reasons.

Olivia insisted she's a trusting person but was just trying to understand Brett. Both spouses admitted they were afraid to get hurt, but Pastor Cal urged them to trust each other in order to have any shot at a lasting relationship.

Olivia also vented how Brett had called her "insecure," which really bothered her. Olivia explained that she was just trying to express how she was feeling, but Brett believed Olivia was trying to pick a fight with him "as an exit strategy."


Olivia said that when she expresses a concern, it's coming from a place of "love or like" and trying to make their marriage work -- not to leave the marriage.

Brett acknowledged Olivia can come across "mean" in some of their conversations, which Olivia pointed out was not her intent. But with that being said, Brett said his intentions were not to be disingenuous.

Olivia felt she had to be "stern" with Brett or else his outgoing and loud personality would "squash" her down. Olivia was just concerned some of their conversations on-camera weren't genuine.

Pastor Cal revealed the root of the couple's problems was "fear" and they shouldn't let fear control them.

Bennett was then shown meeting up with his sister, Molly, whom he called "a hoot." Molly, who brought a stuffed duck with her to the meal, gave Bennett a tarot-card reading and shared how Bennett was "too happy" in his marriage, which was probably clouding his judgment.

Bennett told Molly that Amelia was easygoing and he enjoyed getting to know her, but he said he wasn't going to think about moving until Amelia found out where she'd be doing her residency.


Molly asked Bennett if he was "in love" with Amelia, and Bennett replied, "Possibly. I feel like that could be happening."

Molly believed Bennett and Amelia were true soul mates and their marriage would last forever. Molly said she hoped Bennett could fall in love and she was really happy for him.

Meanwhile, Karen and Miles had some fun with a tire swing. She felt they needed to connect in a natural way and organic way rather than checking boxes off a list.

Miles therefore suggested they could play a game -- Two Truths and One Lie -- to reveal some fun facts about each other. Each spouse shared three statements, one of which was a lie, and his or her partner had to guess the lie.

Miles proved that he knew his wife pretty well, and when he won the game, he said it was time for the both of them to get a tattoo. Karen was a little freaked out about the lifetime commitment, but Miles said getting married was as well.


Henry then welcomed his friend Kristin over his apartment and he sought advice from her.

Henry said it was hard to change a lot of things about himself, including how he's hard-to-read, monotone, and not affectionate. He worried Christina revealing a lack of confidence is a dealbreaker for her in relationships was a passive-aggressive dig at him.

Kristin told Henry that he just needed to be himself, and Henry acknowledged he and Christina are very different people who often frustrated each other.

Kristin admitted she wasn't sure whether Henry and Christina's differences could complement one another.

"The way she spoke to production was completely out of line. It's obviously okay to get frustrated, and it's okay to get annoyed and agitated, like this process is intense," Kristin shared.

"But it's how you handle that frustration and agitation, and I don't see that aligning with how you treat people and how you speak to people, and it made me a little uncomfortable."

Henry said he understood Kristin's concerns, and Kristin admitted she just didn't really see Henry and Christina together.

Kristin said she didn't want to see Henry change himself for Christina and then end up emotionally unfulfilled.

In preparation of celebrating their one-month anniversary, Woody went shopping for jewelry for Amani. Woody wanted to buy Amani a piece with diamonds, and he apparently purchased a pair of diamond earrings.

Woody said the earrings were "elegant, stunning and classy" just like his wife.

Meanwhile, Amelia enjoyed a meal out with her friend Cyrille, who said Amelia and Bennett looked "really good" together. Amelia revealed her sexual relationship with Bennett was "really nice" and she was loving her life.


Amelia said her relationship with Bennett was like a love song, and it became clear love was "looming" for her.

Olivia was then shown talking to Brett about how his sarcasm bothered her and could be very "hurtful." Olivia said his sarcasm could come across mean and made her more defensive.

"I'm trying to keep myself strong when that happens," Olivia admitted, adding that she and Brett needed to work on their communication style.

Brett acknowledged it was really hard for him to open up to someone he had only known for a month, but he promised to try harder and do better for his wife. In return, Brett asked Olivia to trust him and his sincerity.

"I never lie. There is no reason not to trust me," Brett told his wife.


Olivia said they needed to just keep pushing forward together, and Brett asked Olivia to point out when she thought he was being sarcastic or insincere. The pair them embraced.

Later on, Woody and Amani went on a double date with Karen and Miles at a restaurant. Miles asked Woody to reveal something he had learned in the past month, and Woody replied, "Patience." Karen shared how she's hard to read but has been trying to drop more hints.

Miles explained how Karen didn't compliment him or tell him that he's attractive. Karen apparently figured Miles knew how she was feeling just by the way she looked at him.

Karen then revealed she and Miles were thinking about fostering a dog, which brought up a point of contention for Amani and Woody because Amani wanted a dog immediately and Woody wanted to wait for a child, house and dog at the same time.

Over at Christina and Henry's apartment, Christina welcomed her friend Chris over.

Christina shared how Henry was the total opposite of any guy she had ever dated and she didn't know what Henry's endgame was. Christina said she wasn't sure what Henry was waiting for but she thought he's a good person.


"Maybe it's too late... Maybe he just sees me as a friend," Christina revealed, adding, "I don't see the want from him."

Chris asked if Christina was just waiting for Henry to initiate physical intimacy and take the lead, but Christina said the problem was deeper than that because Henry rarely complimented her or even held her hand.

Christina wished Henry would just tell her that she's pretty on occasion, and Chris advised Christina to be more proactive and pull Henry in because he had been very nice and kind. Chris wanted to see the spouses leave their comfort zones and take a bit of a risk.

Meanwhile, Amelia and Bennett went on a hike in the woods.

"Every day, my feelings for Amelia are growing stronger. I've reached a place where I really adore her, and I want to find the right time to tell her that I love her," Bennett told the cameras.


"I'm a little nervous, but if the time and the place is right and I build up the courage to say it, I hope she feels the same."

Afterward, Bennett shared with a Diary Cam how he had expressed his love for Amelia for the very first time.

"He loves me!" Amelia gushed.

"I haven't gotten much of a response, but we're having a good time," Bennett noted.

Amelia then looked at her husband and said, "I love you too."

"You do?!" Bennett gushed. "Really?!"


"Really," Amelia replied.

"Wow!" Bennett shouted.

On Day 31 of marriage, Miles gave Karen a gift for their one-month anniversary that he thought she would appreciate. Miles hoped to take Karen out to one of her favorite restaurants, but COVID-19 had struck New Orleans and so he needed to improvise.

Miles gave Karen a box full of items that represent "black love," including a shirt with a list of couples on it whom he's admired over the years. Karen loved the gesture and definitely saw potential in a future with Miles.

Meanwhile, Amani said she wasn't in love with her husband yet but they were definitely connecting mentally, physically and emotionally.


Woody told the cameras that women he had dated in the past didn't compare to Amani, who made him communicate differently and do and say things differently. Woody feared Amani wouldn't grow to love him, but he remained optimistic.

Woody called Amani his queen and noted, "One month down -- forever to go."

Bennett then surprised Amelia with a blender and a jaw harp for their one-month anniversary, and Amelia said her husband brought out the creative sides to her spirit.

Amelia wrote Bennett a song for their anniversary, and Bennett appreciated hearing his wife's feelings through creative expression. He found her song "moving" and "lovely."

As for Olivia and Brett, they were in a good place and felt they had grown closer together. For their one-month anniversary, the couple watched their wedding video.

Brett said he had "very affectionate feelings for Olivia" and wanted to become the best version of himself for her.

"I think that Olivia could be the right person," Brett said in a confessional.

Watching the video reminded Olivia why she had signed up for Married at First Sight to begin with, and it gave her hope that her marriage to Brett could work out.

For their anniversary, Woody and Amani looked through their wedding album, and Amani said she felt happy and in a good place with her husband. Amani found herself opening up more and "approaching love."

Bennett and Amelia also got to look back on memories from their wedding day, and Bennett gushed about how he was feeling "a cascade of emotions."

Christina joked with Henry while looking through their wedding album that it represented "better days," and Henry noticed there was some meaning behind Christina's jokes.


Henry could sense there was a disconnect between Christina and himself, but the pair tried to bond by having a picnic in their living room amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Christina saw things she liked in Henry, so she decided to stop comparing him to her ex-boyfriends and take their relationship more seriously.

Although Christina and Henry were moving at a really slow pace, she had come around to the idea it was "cool" because Henry really wanted to get to know her.

On Day 31 of marriage, Karen and Miles also looked through their wedding album, which brought up some negative memories for Karen since she had discovered Miles' identity the night before her wedding.

However, Karen confirmed she was glad she had walked down the aisle although she and Miles had different ways of expressing themselves and showing affection. Karen also pointed out she was starting to feel really comfortable around her husband.


Miles said the only piece of the puzzle that was missing in his marriage was physical intimacy but there was no need to rush anything and he'd continue to be patient with his wife.

The Married at First Sight broadcast ended with Woody gifting Amani diamond earrings and coupons that were good for one candelit dinner, a foot massage, a night on the town, a bubble bath and wine, sex in the shower, morning sex, a quickie and more.

Amani joked Woody's cards had gotten out of control, but she liked the idea of a "yes" day, meaning Woody would essentially say "yes" to all of Amani's requests "within parameters."

Amani immediately cashed in on the foot massage, and Woody joked he's just a squirrel in Amani's world.
