'Married at First Sight' recap: Chris divorces Alyssa, Michael's behavior upsets Jasmina, Mark drives Lindsey "insane," and Katina adjusts to Olajuwon's high standards!

Married at First Sight featured Chris Collette divorcing Alyssa Ellman on his own "Decision Day," Jasmina Outar accusing Michael Morency of being secretive and aggressive, Mark Maher driving Lindsey "insane" with his mood swings, and Katina Goode trying to adjust to Olajuwon Dickerson's expectations for a wife during Wednesday night's Season 14 episode on Lifetime.


The five brides who were selected to wed on Season 14 of Married at First Sight are Alyssa, 30, Katina, 29, Jasmina, 29, Lindsey, 34, and Noi Phommasak, 33.

The five grooms who are starring on the new edition are Chris, 35, Olajuwon, 29, Michael, 28, Mark, 37, and Steve, 38.

The couples matched by Married at First Sight experts Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Viviana Coles and Pastor Calvin Roberson are Lindsey and Mark, Alyssa and Chris, Jasmina and Michael, Katina and Olajuwon, and Noi and Steve.


The Married at First Sight broadcast began on Day 7 of marriage, with four of the five couples packing up their belongings and moving into a "neutral" apartment complex in Boston, MA, provided by the show.

Mark reiterated how his wife was "a lot" -- all the time -- but he'd never get bored with her, and Lindsey gushed about how Mark always made her laugh before bed, which she loved.

When Katina and Olajuwon checked out their new apartment, Katina said she was trying to adjust to her husband's standards. She had never lived with a man before, and so cooking for a man more than once a day was going to be a big change for her.

"I promise to put my best foot forward when making sure you are well-fed everyday," Katina told Olajuwon, before admitting to the cameras, "This is the most pressure I've ever felt in a relationship before. This is a lot!"

Over at Noi and Steve's new place, Noi admitted her dog Sushi would have to sleep in the bed with them every night and he often sleeps on her pillow. Steve seemed worried about this arrangement, especially since the couple barely fit in the bed together.


Meanwhile, Chris decided to move into the new Boston apartment because that's what he had committed to at the beginning of the experiment. Chris planned to follow through as much as possible, even though Alyssa apparently didn't want to spend any time with him.

"I'm hearing through the grapevine occasionally things that might be the reasons why she thinks we are incompatible, from tattoos to political views," Chris shared in a confessional.

"And these are all someone told someone and it eventually kind of gets back to me, and I don't even know if it's true or not. She said if I hear something... I should ask her about it, but I don't know how to meet her. I don't even have her phone number!"

Chris planned to sit back and let Alyssa take the lead on this one, and he had no idea what was going to happen between them.

Jasmina was then shown telling Michael that she wasn't going to sleep in their new apartment for the first night because she needed to find a new doggy daycare for her furbaby and wasn't ready to just jump into a brand new routine.


Jasmina noted how her current roommate was a guy, but she wasn't used to being in the same bedroom with a man.

"What about you? Have you ever lived with a woman?" Jasmina asked.

"No," Michael replied. "Never. Never. That's new territory for me."

Michael didn't think it would be healthy for them to sleep apart because he didn't want to set the precedent of sleeping in different places after an argument, but Jasmina insisted she just had things to do and wasn't looking for space.


"This is not what I had envisioned Day 1 back in Boston to look like after getting married," Michael confessed, adding, "I know her dog [Mr. Feeny] is important to her, but I'm not sure he is the real reason this is happening."

On Day 8 of marriage, Steve attempted to bond with Sushi, but he was grossed out by the idea of picking up the dog's poop. However, Steve didn't fight Noi on Sushi sleeping with them and attempted to remain optimistic about the situation that was unusual for him.

In regards to Noi's opinion of Steve's apartment, she laughed at his toys such as nunchucks and learned he's obsessed with LED lights. Steve's bedroom was lined with lights that could change colors on demand, but Noi told the cameras she didn't want them in their new place.

Mark and Lindsey then went over to Mark's bedbug-infested apartment to pack things up and throw a lot of his stuff away so the bugs wouldn't follow them to their next place.

Lindsey asked Mark to just toss stuff he wasn't in love with or didn't feel an emotional connection with, and Mark had a tough time with Lindsey trying to organize his life.


"I think that's always been a difficult thing for me -- is somebody trying to do things for me without listening to how I like them first," Mark complained in a confessional.

"I'm an organized person... [and] this wasn't the way I wanted to move out of my apartment... I'm like, 'Thank you, but I don't like that at all.'"

And Mark wasn't surprised by Lindsey's apartment at all because she had plants everywhere -- all of which she had named -- and bright, playful paintings on the walls.

"I was really hoping Lindsey's place would be big enough for the two of us where we could go after Decision Day pending we stay married, but this isn't going to work out, no," Mark said.

When Olajuwon gave Katina a tour of his home, he asked her to "take it all in." Katina said she could see herself living with Olajuwon there but he had decorated it like a "bachelor pad" and she disliked the curtains in the kitchen as well as the green color in his gym.

Katina graded Olajuwon's house an eight on a scale from 1-10 but only a five for his decor.


Katina hoped to paint the kitchen a light gray and change the countertops, but Olajuwon joked that wasn't going to happen because a renovation would be so expensive.

"I don't know how he expects me to live here if I can't make it my home too," Katina noted.

On Day 8 of marriage, Jasmina admitted in a confessional that she needed time to clear her head and she hoped she and Michael could click again like they had on their wedding day. Jasmina said she was in the right mental space to start over.

Jasmina checked out Michael's apartment first and said he lived like "a frat boy," and then she noticed how he had a female roommate.

"Secrets! Oh my God! You never told me that," Jasmina said.


Michael said the conversation just never came up and he wasn't intentionally hiding the information from her, but Jasmina said she was "annoyed" with and "disappointed in" Michael.

Jasmina wondered if Michael ever would've told her about his female roommate had she not seen the woman for herself. Jasmina noted how this wasn't going to help her fresh start.

Jasmina also later learned that Michael actually had two female roommates. Jasmina said it didn't bother her that Michael lived with women; it bothered her that he never thought his living situation was important to mention and be upfront about.

Michael insisted he wasn't trying to hide something, but Jasmina said he had multiple opportunities to bring it up in conversation.

"It wasn't that I'm trying to get away with it and get you not to know. You're looking at me like you don't know what the hell I'm saying," Michael told his wife.

"I hear you, but what you're saying just don't make sense," Jasmina snapped.


Once Lindsey and Mark got settled into their new apartment, he was worried how all the cats were going to get along. He noticed Lindsey's cats hissed, and so he felt even more pressure on their relationship.

On Day 9 of marriage, Lindsey was hanging on by a thread because she said Mark's life had blown up. His grandmother was apparently only 70 pounds and not doing well and his landlord had been "ridiculous." She thought he was about to explode from all the stress.

"I'm not sure who Mark is right now. There's Mark the Shark... but who he is off-camera right now is completely different," Lindsey lamented.

"He is so hot and cold, on and off, and I don't think he's actually aware of that. And if I'm being honest, he's driving me insane!"

Meanwhile, Chris spent some time with his friend Nick while Alyssa met up with her mother. Alyssa said Chris was not the person she had envisioned standing at the top of the altar and both of them had expected a "cowboy."

Alyssa's mom said Chris seemed nice, but Alyssa countered, "You haven't seen how he treats me... He likes to debate until the cows go home."


Alyssa said she started learning things about Chris and determined they're different in every single way, and Nick laughed about the story of Alyssa's psychic telling her that her soul mate would have an eagle tattoo.

Alyssa claimed Chris had a lack of respect for other people and she didn't like his "defund the police" post on social media since she has a high regard and so much respect for first responders. She called that post "disturbing."

Chris complained about how Alyssa wouldn't have a real conversation with him as Alyssa told her mother she needed trust, honesty, communication and respect in order for her marriage to continue.

"I don't feel like we have that right now," Alyssa noted. "For me, I need to start seeing that actually happen in order to feel any different."

Alyssa's mom said Chris needed to prove himself and show him a better side of himself, and Alyssa agreed.


Pastor Cal then visited with each couple to see where they were at in marriage and to give some advice.

Jasmina shared how Michael had allegedly talked to her in a certain way that turned her off and behaved aggressively off-camera. Jasmina said Michael got "loud" and had a tone with her and he was very disrespectful in general.

"I also know that he's not at a 10 when he's talking to me and that it can get worse," Jasmina claimed. "He did tell me that's a problem he's had in past relationships and his family has said he can act that way."

Michael said being vulnerable with Jasmina almost backfired on him because now his wife had painted a picture of who she thinks he is.

"Michael, every time we have a conflict, you yell! And there's no cameras to show that side!" Jasmina argued.

"But I'm not yelling at you," Michael said.


"Now, Michael, we're not about to do this," Jasmina snapped.

Michael said he would admit to speaking to Jasmina with a tone but had never yelled at her, and her mouth dropped open in disbelief. She didn't appreciate Michael's denial of his behavior.

Pastor Cal asked Jasmina to forgive and move on, and he advised Michael to stop talking "at" or "to" Jasmina. Pastor Cal told Jasmina to tell Michael, "I am not your enemy," during challenging times when she didn't like how he was speaking to her.

Pastor Cal sat down with Olajuwon and Katina later that night, and in terms of her cooking, Olajuwon admitted, "I just have a level for my wife and I expect that you cook. We talked about it."

Pastor Cal said that would have been fine 40 or 50 years ago and he didn't want Olajuwon to be stuck in a time warp. Olajuwon assured the pastor that he didn't expect Katina to be cooking, barefoot and pregnant all the time.

Pastor Cal also pointed out how he didn't like how Olajuwon had spoken to his wife during their horseback riding in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Katina acknowledged Olajuwon's execution can be "hard" but she made it clear that she doesn't tolerate disrespect from a man.


However, Katina felt valued in her marriage -- although she and Olajuwon had yet to consummate their marriage. Olajuwon revealed he and Katina had "somewhat" made a mutual decision.

"I don't believe that at all. Was it real mutual?" Pastor Cal asked.

"I think it's my decision," Olajuwon confessed.

Olajuwon said he didn't want to look bad on TV if he slept with his wife and then their marriage started to "fall off" and ultimately not work out, but Pastor Cal asked Olajuwon to stop questioning the relationship that should be a long-term, lifelong union.

"You are killing the relationship! Because you are... giving yourself an out!" Pastor Cal shouted at Olajuwon.


Katina confirmed that she feared Olajuwon wasn't finding her sexually attractive, but Olajuwon called that notion "crazy" because he thought his wife was beautiful. Pastor Cal therefore advised Olajuwon to make Katina feel secure through his actions and not just his words.

"If you want to have sex as a married couple, have sex!" Pastor Cal urged the couple. "Do stuff married people do!"

On Day 10 of marriage, Noi and Steve's meeting with Pastor Cal went well except Noi revealed she wouldn't compromise on her dream of having three children when Steve would prefer to play things by ear based on their finances, time and energy.

"There are some things I will budge and compromise on, but this is one thing [I won't]," Noi said.

"Are you serious?!" Pastor Cal asked.

"Yeah," she sheepishly replied. "I grew up with three children in my family... and in my mind, the perfect image of a family in my mind is three kids."


Pastor Cal told Noi that it may not even be possible for them to have a child and Steve's analytical mind balanced her out well. Pastor Cal just asked her to allow for possibilities.

Noi also admitted Steve not having a full-time job "scared" her because she wanted to feel supported and secure in her marriage. Since she had grown up in a poor refugee camp, Noi also said it's important for her kids to always have enough money.

"I don't want to have to worry about money," Noi acknowledged.

Steve apparently didn't like the idea of having a full-time job because then he'd have to sacrifice his uber-important creativity and dreams, but he promised his wife that he could always find self-employment work in website design and photography.

"I'm not sure if I'm willing to make those sacrifices right now," Steve acknowledged.

Noi wanted to make sure her husband would always take care of her and provide for her kids, and so she needed to see Steve make a plan and put his words into action.


Pastor Cal then visited Mark and Lindsey's place, and the couple was definitely quiet and uncomfortable around each other. Lindsey said she was having a hard time with her husband, who had allegedly been giving her two different sides of himself.

The pair had seen red flags in each other, and both Lindsey and Mark appeared overwhelmed.

Mark explained how Lindsey's reactions to things sometimes came across as "condescending" and he didn't like it, but Lindsey didn't think she was getting the best of Mark, which frustrated her.

"I think you're not processing these changes well... We went from having sex to you not even wanting to hold my hand or be affectionate with me," Lindsey explained.

"My feelings are hurt because you went from all to nothing. I am so insulted and offended by you. I am so mad!... And you are f-cking clueless right now, and it makes me so mad! Work on us!"

Mark confessed that he was afraid to speak up to Lindsey because she can be "a lot." He said his feelings toward Lindsey went up and down because of her outbursts on the honeymoon and he respected her enough to ask to move slower in their romance.


Mark admitted that he wasn't feeling like himself, like he was out of his own skin, because Lindsey often came at him with too much and then pushed him away.

"I've seen you poke and it makes me uncomfortable. But I don't poke you; I just shut my mouth," Mark said.

"I never gave him a reason to feel that way," Lindsey replied.

"Lindsey, come on! Lindsey, sweetheart, I see what he's saying," Pastor Cal noted.

"I don't even know what he's saying! It was just a run-on sentence," Lindsey complained.

Pastor Cal agreed that Lindsey is intelligent, sharp and speaks what she thinks without a filter, which can sometimes be a problem.


Mark assured his wife that there was nothing wrong with her and he knew she was always coming from a good place but they don't have the same filter. Pastor Cal told the couple that they're both larger than life but Lindsey must pull back on occasion to let Mark catch up.

Lindsey agreed to let Mark fix things on his own and not take over his life, and Pastor Cal asked Lindsey to give herself to her husband in doses.

On the other side of the coin, Pastor Cal asked Mark to keep running in the marriage and give his wife more validation and reassurance. Lindsey also didn't want Mark to hold back his feelings in fear of her reaction. She asked him for "the benefit of the doubt."

Mark acknowledged things needed to change, but he seemed to leave the conversation feeling better.

It then became time for Alyssa and Chris' confrontation. Chris told Pastor Cal that he thought Alyssa had "no interest" in being married to him because they're not compatible and she had used terms such as "robbed" and "gypped."

Chris said she first felt disappointed at the wedding because Chris wasn't her physical type but she chose not to walk away in order to figure out why they were matched. She then became nervous upon learning things about Chris from his family and friends at the reception.


"That's when I first started to be like, 'Oh my God, what did I get myself into?'" Alyssa shared.

Alyssa came into this day wanting to "work on things" with Chris and see what they "could do." She hoped they could get to a better place, like the feeling she had when they paddleboarded and played tennis in Puerto Rico.

Alyssa also explained how she's never comfortable sharing a bed with a man, but Pastor Cal reminded Alyssa that she got married and needed to live with her husband.

"You're already showing a pattern of not wanting to be around him," Pastor Cal said.

Alyssa told Chris that sharing the apartment wasn't ideal for her because he has a big dog and she's actually allergic to dogs, which Chris seemed to think was just an excuse.

Alyssa admitted that she hadn't found any positives in being matched with Chris, although Chris had immediately found Alyssa "impressive." He thought they looked compatible on paper, and Pastor Cal completely agreed.


Alyssa then looked at Chris and said, "I wanted to come here today because I don't like the way things have been going and I don't like how they got here. I've been in a better headspace since I've gotten home and I'm still working towards that."

She added, "[I want] to stop the pattern... and figure out how we can move forward from this place that we're in."

Chris, however, was on a different page after feeling totally rejected for a week.

"For me, this is my 'Decision Day,'" Chris stated.

"Are you saying that you want a divorce?" Pastor Cal asked.

"I want a divorce," Chris confirmed.


Alyssa started to cry and vented about how she had worked so hard to get to this point and never thought this would be the outcome -- a situation of "arguing, miscommunication, disrespect and feeling alone."

Chris said he came into the show with a set of expectations.

"For me, it goes from taking it slow to chasing somebody who doesn't want to be chased," Chris explained, adding how Alyssa had checked out awhile back.

"If I didn't want to be here, I wouldn't be here," Alyssa argued. "I had chances to leave and go home... and I didn't."

"I think there are a lot of reasons to still be here, but I don't think marriage is the one that you're here for," Chris said.

Alyssa scowled and said she had a problem with Chris speaking like that because she had joined the show "for the right reasons and to be married." Alyssa said Chris' allegation was not fair or accurate.


Chris explained how he just wanted to be happy long-term and it seemed both he and Alyssa would be happier single.

"I feel like that's where we are," Chris pointed out. "It's not what either of us wanted."

Pastor Cal apologized, saying this isn't what the experts wanted for them at all, and Chris vented in a subsequent confessional about how Alyssa seemingly never wanted to be in their marriage.

"I'm angry, I'm disappointed, I'm frustrated still. But it's never been about who I was matched with, it's never been about the process, it's always been about that the person I married didn't even want to try to be married to me in the way that we say 'marriage,'" Chris reasoned.

Chris and Alyssa then parted ways, and Chris just wished her the best.

Alyssa said she was sad about the whole situation. She just wanted respect from the beginning and continued to insist how she's a good person and Chris tried to make it look otherwise.


Chris shared how a relationship takes work and he was ready to do whatever he had to do to for Alyssa.

"I know what I want, I know what I need, I know what I like more than I ever have in my life. I know what my strengths are and I know what my weaknesses are," Chris said.

"So, I don't know if she's out there somewhere, whomever I end up with next, but I'm really, really excited to meet her. And I think had I not done this [experiment], that relationship -- which I hope lasts for the rest of my life -- would not be the amazing relationship that I'm expecting it to be."
