The Married at First Sight episode kicked off with two of the couples arriving in Cancun, Mexico for their honeymoons, while Tristan was still in the Texas airport, wondering why his wife had been detained.
"I'm feeling like this isn't real. I'm feeling confused; I'm feeling anxious. I don't know what the heck is going on. This is f-cking unreal," Tristan told the cameras.
"No one knows where Mia is, what she's being held for and where she's going. We cannot get any information. There's nothing we can do at the airport, so I have to go back to the hotel and just wait to get more information about what's going on with Mia and her arrest."
The show's production team, at the time, did not know why Mia was being detained either.
Tristan had been developing strong feelings for Mia, so this was a bit startling for him. However, he made a vow in front of God to be committed, and he saw the potential Mia had and the potential they had together as a couple.

Tristan was therefore not giving up on his marriage, and he tried not to jump to conclusions or make judgments about his wife before hearing her side of the story.
Once in Cancun on Day 2 of the marriages, Amber said the villa was everything she had dreamed of. She didn't have sex with Dave yet, but she figured that would change on their honeymoon. She was also pushing to have children, so she wasn't going to make Dave wait for long to consummate their marriage.
Meanwhile, Danielle thought vacationing and traveling with a person is the best way to get to know him or her, and from what she had learned about Bobby so far, she was very pleased and impressed.
Amber and Dave were then shown getting a massage. Dave was super attracted to Amber and thought she had "a banging body," but he knew it was important for them to develop an emotional and deep connection first.

"It's been really difficult to hold off on having sex because we have so much physical chemistry," Amber told the cameras.

"But we're trying to hold off awhile just until we completely, 100 percent trust each other. But I feel we are really getting there. I was nervous to marry at first sight, but I'm discovering every day why I was matched with Dave. We go to the same gym, we like to work out and we like a lot of the same things."
During the massage, Dave told his wife that he was "becoming quite fond" of her, and he hoped they could be together forever. She seemed to be everything he wanted in a partner.
That night, the couple had sex for the first time. Amber later said it felt "special and intimate," and Dave acknowledged he had enjoyed the experience as well.
As for Bobby and Danielle's marriage, Bobby said the union was "a dream come true."
Bobby learned Danielle was caring, super independent and sweet. He was also excited she wants to have children, and Bobby noted he got "very lucky" with his spouse. In turn, Danielle thought Bobby was so cute, and she found him funny and shy.

On Day 3 of the couples' marriages, Tristan noted 18 hours had elapsed since he last saw Mia.
An overwhelmed Tristan then sat down with Married at First Sight producer Eric Detwiler to talk about Mia's situation.
"We ran every background check possible -- the warrant, it was a shock to all of us... We were able to track down the actual copy of the actual copy of the warrant that was used to arrest Mia and we were also able to find out that warrant was filed the day after our full background report came in," Eric explained.
"I think what's important about what's in here is that there are two sides to every story. We don't know Mia's story yet."
Tristan was given an opportunity to read through the report, and his eyes opened wide in shock. Tristan discovered there were three counts of stalking and one count of credit-card fraud against his wife. Tristan didn't know what to do, but he was desperate to see Mia and find out the truth.

Back in Cancun, the two other couples went bike riding. Bobby and Danielle discussed how they both wanted at least two children, and this is when Danielle noticed Bobby has strong southern values.
Bobby said he'd like to be the provider for his family while Danielle stayed home with their kids, but Danielle said in a confessional she'd "shoot" herself if she had to do that. She hoped that would not be a dealbreaker for her relationship.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jessica Griffin talked to Tristan via Skype. Tristan said what he had read about Mia was "very, very troubling."
"I was falling for Mia. I was falling for her hard... this is my worst nightmare... All of this is piling up, and now I'm sitting here not knowing who I just married... Even though I have trust in God, this is a serious test of my faith," Tristan told the cameras.
Jessica explained to viewers that the information in the warrant is completely "incongruent" with the Mia the experts had fallen in love with during the casting process.

"I've known this guy for a couple of years, and I can remember him talking about her," Dave recalled in a confessional.
"So the whole thing is just pretty sh-tty. It was gut-wrenching to hear when it's so personal to me now that this is my wife and I'm finding this out. If I'm being honest, if I had known this going in, I would have dropped out."
Dave said Amber had done nothing wrong but this was going to be a tough and disappointing situation for him to overcome. Regardless, Dave was still committed to Amber and the process.
That night, Bobby and Danielle enjoyed a romantic dinner on the pier. Danielle expressed her concerns about being a stay-at-home mom, but Bobby said they'd be a team and traditional gender roles are out the window in 2018. Bobby promised he'd support his wife's dreams and goals.

"Is this too good to be true? What is he hiding?... I just don't see the other shoe dropping. He seems so genuine. I just keep thinking, 'Gosh, I am so lucky,'" Danielle gushed to cameras.
The next day, on Day 4 of the marriages, the two honeymooning couples met up and spent some time together on a ziplining adventure.
It was an opportunity for the newlyweds to lean on each other, and they seemed to get along great. Bobby also helped Danielle overcome her fear of heights. She found her husband to be understanding and patient.
And Dave gushed to the cameras, "I think it's definitely possible I could fall in love with Amber."
Back in the United States, Mia was released at 10:30PM following two days in custody.
"There was a warrant out for my arrest that I knew nothing about," Mia said in a confessional.

Once Mia returned home, Dr. Pepper Schwartz called her on the phone and discussed how a man took out a retraining order on her for stalking claims as well as unauthorized use of his credit card.
"That is 100 percent false and a complete mistake of identity," Mia told Dr. Pepper. "That was not me and it was clear."
Mia insisted again that none of the allegations against her were true.
Pastor Calvin Roberson said this was "one of the craziest things" he's ever heard, but Mia had informed him charges had been dropped, so there seemed to be no reason to worry any further.
Mia was very afraid Tristan was going to want to "give up" on their marriage, but when he saw her in person, he was nothing but happy and excited. Tristan still had questions about Mia's past, but he was so relieved his wife was okay and charges had been dropped.
Mia then asked to look at the arrest warrant since the whole thing had allegedly been news to her.
But the more Mia discussed the matter with Tristan, the more her story of "a mistake in identity" seemed suspicious and fake.
"That name doesn't even ring a bell," Mia said of the man who filed the claims against Mia.
"So you don't know who that is?" Tristan asked.
"I mean, I know of him... through just mutual friends. It's a small town," Mia clarified.
"Why would he go through all this trouble then? It doesn't make sense. It says you ordered a Christmas gift for him with his card," Tristan said with an uncomfortable laugh.

"None of this is true, and I think that's why [authorities] just let me go," Mia explained, adding that bail hadn't even been set for her release.
Tristan decided to believe Mia and maintain trust and faith in her. He said he cared for Mia and planned to move forward in their marriage despite this bump in the road.
"I got married at first sight to find a lifelong partner that would be there for me and have my back -- commitment and loyalty, and I think I found that with Tristan. He's amazing," Mia told the cameras.
