Married at First Sight's eighteenth season stars five Chicago-based couples marrying at first sight, moving in together, and trying to make newlywed life work for eight weeks.

The five couples who tied the knot at first sight are Camille and Thomas, Karla and Juan, Madison and Allen, David and Michelle, and Emem and Ikechi.

If at the end of the eight-week experiment a couple is unhappy, they can choose to split and part ways on "Decision Day."

The Married at First Sight broadcast began on Day 11 of marriage for the five couples.

Each couple was supposed to have spent their first night together in their new Chicago apartment, but Madison slept at her former apartment after a night of partying with her girlfriends.

Michelle and David also chose to sleep in separate bedrooms because their connection was lacking and Michelle wasn't feeling attracted to her husband.

Around 12:30AM or 1AM, Madison had finally texted Allen to let him know where she was, and she was ended up sleeping on her couch.

Allen didn't express his frustration and was trying to be patient and cool, but he was clearly disappointed to have missed out on spending time with his wife.

Madison warned Allen that she liked to go out with her friends pretty often, and he claimed he wouldn't have a problem with that.

Karla was realizing that Juan was a very goofy person, and she said she loved that but she also wanted to see a serious side of him and if he could calm down.

Michelle and David then met with MAFS experts Dr. Pia Holec and Pastor Calvin Roberson, and David shared how he was attracted to Michelle and they picked the right girl for him physically.

But Michelle explained how she didn't want a partner who smoked or still lived at home with his parents.

David mentioned how he'd be willing to change things about himself to please Michelle, but she shot down that idea.

"I don't want Davis to change everything about himself so that I like him. That's not fair," Michelle announced.

"But it would be for the better of us... It would be for us," David said.

When asked what she had asked for in man, Michelle said success, confidence and someone who would match her lifestyle.

Footage then showed Michelle telling Dr. Pia in a pre-casting interview that it would be fine and "great" if a man lived at home but was saving for a house.

"But I'm 38. I don't think it's attractive when someone my age or around my age to live at home," Michelle explained, adding how she didn't understand why David had chosen that living arrangement.

"If I met him on the street, I'd probably never talk to him again."

David explained how he's never home and so it didn't make sense to rent an expensive place of his own. He said he bought his own food and helped out with the rent. David shared that he had recently paid off his car but was still making student loan payments.

"I get it. I just don't think it's attractive. I have worked my butt off to get where I am, and I wanted my equal, my counterpart," Michelle said.

Michelle said she had "higher expectations" than this and she was mad at herself for not verbalizing those better.

"I'm disappointed... I had high hopes for this marriage and it's disappointing," Michelle said while choking back tears.

The experts asked Michelle if she was giving up, and she admitted that she was "mentally checked out." However, she said she was still trying.

David wasn't sure what Michelle wanted or would be receptive to, and she explained that she liked how David was a gentleman but he was smothering in the beginning.

Michelle confessed that she was being "a pill," and Dr. Pia said she was being too hard on herself.

It was apparent David and Michelle had different definitions of success. David said success to Michelle was income while success to him was mental stability, family, health and love.

"Well now I sound lil a psycho money b-tch," Michelle vented.

The experts asked Michelle to see the value in David and lean into that, and then she pointed out how he's very thoughtful. David also said he appreciated Michelle's honesty, even when the truth hurt a little bit.

Michelle cried and acknowledged how she had some anxiety and making this marriage work was going to be hard. She felt out of control of her life and didn't like it.

Dr. Pia told Michelle, who had been independent for so long, that allowing David in wouldn't be a weakness and she had a strong man to support her.

When Camille saw Thomas' place, the kitchen was bare bones and he had a very simple one-bedroom place.

When Emem saw Ikechi's humble apartment, she was a little worried he'd be intimidated by her apartment because men had felt pressure in the past to live up to her lifestyle. She had a beautiful kitchen, view and wrap around porch.

Karla thought Juan's place was very industrial, and she suggested that he needed to ditch his TV stand and torch his rug.

But Karla liked the place in general, and so she wondered if he'd let her live with him and bring her stuff in. Juan said he'd welcome Karla into his place at the end of the experiment and he wanted her to feel like it's her home too.

When Allen showed Madison his fancy car and nice place, she was impressed. Madison was starting to embrace his quirkiness, and she said it was "a good feeling."

After Michelle took some time to reflect, she came up with a list of activities she and David could do together, and he seemed really excited and grateful.

Camille and Thomas then sat down with Pastor Cal and fellow MAFS expert Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Camille said they had different upbringings culturally.

Camille said they were learning more about each other and a seed had been sown. The couple was already holding hands and sharing kisses.

"I would probably say what's missing is a little smoothness and the swag factor," Camille told the experts.

Camille said being with Thomas almost felt like she was in a multiracial relationship.

Camille also said she didn't appreciate some of Thomas' corny and gross jokes. Thomas admitted he sometimes overcompensated in uncomfortable situations and relied on his humor too much.

Camille suggested that maybe she could take Thomas shopping and buy him some new clothes. She and Thomas were both open to letting each other change.

Allen and Madison had a chat with Pastor Cal and Pepper next. Madison said the couple's communication was really good and things were starting to feel more natural and comfortable between them.

But Madison said romantic and physical chemistry was lacking with Allen, who insisted he was willing to compromise and make concessions for his wife.

"I love the person that you are, and I'm always going to be a little weird and a little eccentric," Allen admitted. "And in the last four days, I went to the gym four times!"

Madison said she loved that and appreciated Allen's action and effort.

Afterward, David checked out Michelle's apartment and he said he liked seeing her in her element. He also met her cat Trixie and they were taking baby steps together. When asked if David liked her place, which she had worked very hard to secure and decorate, David said it was "cute" and "simple."

Michelle being told her apartment was "simple" rubbed her the wrong way.

During Ikechi and Emem's counseling session with Pastor Cal and Dr. Pepper, Ikechi said he wanted to see "the art" in Emem because she tended to be very "mechanical." He wanted to see her smell the flowers and enjoy the sunset.

Emem didn't seem thrilled Ikechi went to bed at 9PM every night, and Pastor Cal wanted them to discuss intimacy and how they might be able to blend their evening routines together.

David later showed Michelle his basement living situation. He had a bedroom, a laundry area, a mini refrigerator, a little table, and a bathroom -- but not much of a living area. Michelle also learned that David's parents came down to do their laundry with the same washing machine and dryer.

"I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's very college fratboy vibes," Michelle complained in a confessional. "There was a kegerator in the middle of the hallway. It felt very 26-years-old."

After Allen was shown cooking Madison a delicious dinner that really impressed her, Juan and Karla had their meeting with the MAFS experts.

Juan expressed how saying he "forgot about" Karla was wrong and inconsiderate.

Juan complained the Karla could be a little "cold" and "passive aggressive" when he'd prefer to have her openly talk about her anger or issues. Karla said she needed a safe space to express herself.

The couple agreed they were holding back in the physical department. Juan said he didn't want sex to cloud his decision-making abilities, but Dr. Pepper advised the couple to give each other some direction.

Juan asked for more tolerance, communication and feedback so that he could make corrections. Karla asked for more mindfulness so that she could feel more security in their marriage.

"Don't screw it up!" Pastor Cal joked with the pair.
