Matched by Married at First Sight experts Dr. Jessica Griffin, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Pastor Calvin Roberson, Jaclyn married Ryan, Molly walked down the aisle to Jonathan, and Shawniece became a wife to Jephte.
The episode kicked off on Day 35 of the marriages, with Molly expressing how she felt great about the direction her relationship with Jonathan was going.

"I think going forward, I really just need to keep trying harder to show Jon affection. Because Jon is my ideal husband and I really want to maximize the possible physical feelings that might come... What a shame if we can't make this work with everything we have going for us," Molly told the cameras.
And Jephte surprised Shawniece with two roses as an apology for leaving her the previous night due to an argument. Jephte didn't like the idea of surrendering his unlocked phone to his wife, and because she became frustrated with him, he felt she didn't have his back.
However, Jephte acknowledged it was wrong to leave his wife and he should communicate better, especially after hurting Shawniece's feelings. He feared falling in love with Shawniece and the relationship not working out, so he realized he must put his best foot forward.
And Shawniece also didn't want a lack of trust in her marriage to be the reason she could potentially divorce Jephte, so she decided to pick her battles -- with this one not being selected. Shawniece's feelings were hurt, but she wanted to forgive and forget.
Jephte, Jonathan and Ryan then had a boys' night out Pastor Calvin. Calvin asked the guys to come up with a "marriage goal" with their wives so they could have restoration and longevity in their marriages, as well as something to look forward to.

But this topic was a sensitive one for Ryan, who discovered his wife has "a gypsy soul" and didn't envision herself living in Boston forever.
Ryan told his friends it frightened him to hear that Jaclyn would love to live abroad and experience different cultures, because he was a Boston boy born and bred -- and he wanted to have security and raise a family there.

Calvin explained there needed to be compromise on both sides and suggested extended vacations, but Ryan wasn't even onboard with that plan.
Calvin therefore advised Ryan not to fight with Jaclyn about something that may not happen until five or so years down the line. Calvin wanted the couples to focus on present day and conquering problems immediately at hand.
Calvin actually thought Ryan was trying to sabotage his relationship because he was afraid to actually receive everything he wants. Calvin said many people often use this "passive aggressive" approach to get out of a relationship.
Ryan had never been submissive in a relationship, but he's also never been in a successful relationship. So Ryan knew he had to change his ways and often allow his wife to take the lead. The pastor believed Ryan also needed to let his guard down.

Once Ryan returned home, however, Jaclyn noticed he had been drinking and wasn't in a good mood at all. Jaclyn was feeling sick and asked Ryan to stay with her, but instead, he walked out of their home to go out with a friend. Jaclyn admitted it wasn't the first time Ryan had done this to her and she was simply "over it."
On Day 36 of the marriages, Shawniece shared with Jephte that she'd love to have two children, but Jephte couldn't wait to be a father and wanted four kids.
Jephte had already talked himself down from having six kids because he wanted to make sure they'd be able to attend private school and be well taken care of. This conversation made Shawniece feel that Jephte had truly committed to her, and it made her smile.

Over dinner at home, Jaclyn and Ryan discussed their issues and how Jaclyn didn't feel loved and cherished.
Ryan, however, didn't appreciate the fact Jaclyn had demanded him to stay home and not go out. Ryan hated having his freedom taken away from him, and he clearly didn't like it when people told him what to do.

Jaclyn then assured Ryan that although she'd love to travel, once they had kids, she would never pack up her stuff and leave them.
The argument continued with Ryan saying he needed to blow off some steam and unleash his feelings onto his friends sometimes rather than his wife, but Jaclyn wasn't backing down because she wanted a husband who was going to be there for her and want to spend time with her.
Jaclyn wasn't about to throw Ryan "a bone" or cut him more "slack," and so she put her foot down and said his behavior was unacceptable and "toxic." Ryan, on the other hand, refused to completely give up his lifestyle as an individual.
As a result, the pair reached a stalemate in their disagreement. Ryan then thought back to Calvin's advice and decided to "take a loss." Calvin had said Ryan needed to make his wife his priority, making his boys secondary.
She put her foot down and noted his behavior the prior night was unacceptable and "toxic."

Ryan explained he needed to prove to Jaclyn that was 100 percent committed to their marriage, and so he apologized for leaving her when she was sick. Ryan wanted to try harder for Jaclyn, because he certainly didn't want to lose her.
After the argument, Jaclyn felt a lot of hope their marriage could work because they still looked at and held each other the same.
The next day, the three couples met for a thrilling and adventurous activity in which they'd swing on a trapeze. Shawniece came up with the idea so the couples could interact and have some fun with each other.

The women then talked amongst themselves, and Jaclyn revealed she didn't envision Ryan and herself getting divorced on Decision Day because they were making the proper sacrifices and adjustments for the sake of each other's happiness.

Shawniece and Molly also seemed satisfied in their marriages, although Molly said she was "very unprepared to make a decision" about divorce because every day with Jonathan turned out differently.
On Day 38, Ryan found himself "very hopeful" he "could fall in love with Jackie one day." The pair cuddled and kissed in the bedroom before going to sleep, and it appeared the couple was growing stronger.
"It's times like these where I see amazing glimpses of hope with Ryan and I, because he's so caring, and I can tell he wants it for us," Jaclyn said in a confessional.
"It's just not always the easiest for him to express or show, especially after hard times, but he hasn't given up. So I feel there are glimpses of Ryan and I falling in love, and I feel positive about the direction we're going in and it's going to be something I think will last, forever."
The episode concluded with Molly taking Jonathan out for his birthday and giving him a gift card to his favorite store so he could buy new clothes.
Molly wanted Jonathan to know she was thinking about him and was "all in" their marriage. She was also making more of an effort to show him intimacy and affection.

"I definitely see a future with him, and I think Jon really has the potential to be the love of my life," Molly told the cameras.
