Married at First Sight star Clara Berghaus has defended the meltdown she had about her dress and appearance prior to walking down the aisle and marrying a stranger, Ryan Oubre.

"I hate my hair. I only get one first impression with my husband and I don't feel like me," Clara complained to her bridesmaids before her wedding ceremony.
"None of this is how I would've planned my own wedding, it's not how I ever pictured my wedding... I just feel all over the place today! I don't look like me."
Clara ranted and raved about how her wedding gown was hemmed too short, her makeup was too heavy and her hairstyle didn't turn out as she had imagined it.
During Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, the show's host Jamie Otis asked Clara what it was like to watch that clip of herself back considering some MAFS viewers have labeled Clara "a bridezilla."
"Yeah, it's hard," Clara admitted to Jamie, who starred on Season 1 of Married at First Sight.
"I think any bride has jitters on their wedding day but they don't have to have people watch it [on TV]. You can't really tell in clip, but my dress literally was, like, ankle length."
Clara elaborated, "And I spent the last two weeks making custom, crystal Nike tennis shoes to wear with my dress. And I [couldn't] wear them because the dress is so short that it looks silly."
Clara acknowledged she might have lost a little perspective prior to walking down the aisle but she's only human and had been under a lot of stress.

"So, yeah, at the end of day, does the hair and makeup matter? No. I just felt so not me," Clara explained on Unfiltered.

"Also, I really wanted to take a shot of tequila and no one could find me salt!"
Jamie then asked Clara what exactly was causing her to be so emotional that day.
"It was after reading Ryan's letter to me," Clara shared.
As shown on Married at First Sight's twelfth-season premiere, Ryan wrote Clara a beautiful letter and thanked her for taking a leap of faith with him.
Ryan's sweet message made Clara cry, as he gifted her a blue speaker -- which had been his "wingman" from backyard cookouts with friends to staying in an AirBnB in Budapest.
Ryan wrote that he couldn't wait to create wonderful memories with his wife and make their own playlists on future trips, and Clara predicted she was about to marry an extraordinary man.
Even Clara's mother gushed at the time, "Who cares what he looks like! He just wrote you that letter!"
Clara therefore explained on Unfiltered, "I get to read this love note. I mean, I'm literally getting chills talking about it right now."

"One of my biggest fears going into this [process] was being paired with someone who was doing [the show] for the wrong reasons," Clara explained, getting a bit choked up as she spoke.
"And from that one piece of paper, I knew this man is here and his heart is in it. So I definitely got emotional -- for good reasons."
When asked whether she'd change anything if she could go back to her wedding day, Clara replied, "You know what? I'm a big feelings gal. I'm really big on 'you feel how you feel,' and you know what? If you're being dramatic, you're being dramatic!"
"And that's okay sometimes," she noted. "So, I'm okay with how I handled myself, and I think that's what's important."
On Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight, Clara and Ryan got married and seemed to like each other right off the bat.
Ryan said he couldn't wait to get to know Clara better, and Clara gushed in a confessional, "He's very handsome. He's very cute. Like, y'all did good!... [He's] very charismatic, very charming and good looking."
Wednesday night's broadcast also featured Briana and Vincent tying the knot, as well as Erik and Virginia. Two more Atlanta-based couples are expected to marry in next week's Season 12 MAFS episode.
