Married at First Sight star David has shared his reaction to his wife Michelle's breakdown at their wedding over his surprising living arrangement.

After David and Michelle exchanged vows on Married at First Sight's October 29 episode, the new spouses were able to have a brief conversation before celebrating at their wedding reception.

"I currently live in my parents' house," David told Michelle after introducing himself.

"Oh my gosh, crazy," Michelle responded.

"For the last three years, I've been living in an empty bar that I turned into my condo," David explained to his bride.

"It was 2,500 square feet and it was getting lonely," he elaborated. "And so we decided to sell and I was like, 'I'll just go back home for a little while to see what we're going to do.' And here we are now!"

"Crazy," Michelle repeated.

David watched back that clip on Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight: Afterparty, and he admitted to host Keshia Knight Pulliam that his "nerves" were taking over and that's why he spilled the tea right away instead of easing into the difficult conversation.

"I'd rather get everything out on Day 1 than have it come out three months down the line," David said.

"I felt like, 'If these things are negative to you, we can work on those things.'"

But Michelle admittedly became "fixated" on that little detail.

When Michelle's bridesmaids asked if she could see a future with David, Michelle broke down into tears and then went to the bathroom.

Microphones caught audio of Michelle crying to her pal about how David still lived with his parents and she didn't understand why.

Michelle lamented about how she was having a "f-cking breakdown" over this news, but her friend insisted that David just had strong family ties and they're all good people.

After David watched Michelle's meltdown on Afterparty, he shared, "Seeing that, it's rough."

"Seeing somebody emotional when it's supposed to be one of the most amazing days of their life, and being in the same room not knowing she was crying, that was -- what I just saw right there [in the clip] -- how did I not see that?" David said.

The Married at First Sight star confessed, "That was hurtful, not knowing that happened."

Keshia told David that he was being hard on himself, and the Afterparty host gave him credit for trying to find his wife when she had gone missing at the wedding reception.

But David's living situation wasn't the only red flag for Michelle.

David had also revealed during their first post-wedding chat that he occasionally smoked cigarettes when hanging out with his friends. Michelle called the habit "gross" and seemed turned off.

Looking back on how he handled that evening, David apparently has one regret.

"What I would've done differently is just let the moment play out and enjoy the wedding and just be in fathom of what I've got right now -- I'm married," David said.

"[I wish I had] enjoyed the moment rather than put it all out there."

Married at First Sight star Camille also appeared on Afterparty and defended David.

"You can tell he's a good dude because he's hearing all of these tough things, about what Michelle is not feeling about him, and he feels bad that he ruined her day," Camille shared. "That speaks a lot to his character."

David and Michelle, however, appeared to be in good spirits when they went to bed together on their wedding night. David was ecstatic about his bride. He called her beautiful and thought they were "meant to be."

But Michelle noted that she'd need more time to open up and get to know her new husband before arriving at any conclusions.
