Married at First Sight star Emily has vented about how Brennan's actions off-camera weren't aligning with his words and how he played the victim during their disagreements, allegedly.

Brennan and Emily had enjoyed a beautiful wedding and romantic honeymoon in Mexico, during which they established a mutual respect and admiration for each other.

But when it became time for Brennan and Emily to move into a Denver apartment together, Brennan was standoffish and took a few days to himself. He confessed that he wasn't feeling physically attracted to his wife, and Emily could sense he was shutting down.

Brennan, however, refused to tell Emily why exactly he didn't feel a romantic spark with her.

Emily appeared on Married at First Sight: Afterparty, which aired Wednesday night on Lifetime, and she watched back a Season 17 clip of Brennan telling his best friend Richie that, despite not feeling any chemistry with Emily, he thought she was an "amazing" person.

"I think that's also what makes it almost harder though, because he says I'm 'amazing' but then we're still in this roadblock," Emily told Afterparty host Keshia Knight Pulliam.

"I think he wants to tell himself he's trying harder and doing everything he can more than he actually is."

Emily pointed out how "actions speak louder than words," elaborating, "I'm not really seeing a lot of actions, specifically off-camera. He'll say stuff on-camera but then nothing really happens behind the scenes."

Emily proceeded to watch another Married at First Sight clip of one of her therapy sessions with Brennan and Married at First Sight expert, Dr. Pia Holec.

"I feel like since the last talk we [talked], everything went backwards again," Emily tells Dr. Pia in the footage. "And then I feel like there was more pushback from your recommendations."

"Would it feel more productive to talk about that now?" Dr. Pia asks.

"I don't think so," Brennan chimes in. "I just don't know where this is coming from. We had such a good day playing soccer, and so I think we're in such a good place now and moving forward and not really dwelling on the past, like we had agreed."

Emily acknowledges, "I know," but then adds, "It's important since we were here last time and now we're here to help [Dr. Pia] understand why nothing happened."

After letting out a loud sigh or moan, Brennan is put in the hot seat.

"What is that about?!" Dr. Pia asks in frustration.

Brennan replies, "Can we please shift gears and talk about something positive?"

On Afterparty, Keshia asked Emily if she let Brennan know how exactly she was feeling prior to their sitdown chat with the Married at First Sight expert.

"Oh yeah!" Emily enthusiastically replied. "This was ongoing stuff, and if anything, this was the first night I decided, 'I need to actually start speaking up for myself and saying some of the truth.'"

Emily noted, "You can see [Brennan] is very good at pivoting things hence him interrupting if it's not aligning to how he wants to be portrayed."

Keshia therefore asked Emily to describe her conversations with Brennan off-camera, when there was no expert around.

"He does not like hearing anything negative and he doesn't like to go into the past, and before this [therapy session], he basically told me, 'If you shut up, I'll go to couples' therapy with you when this is over,'" Emily claimed.

"I kind of thought he meant it, but I also knew how I felt in the majority of my gut."

Emily insisted her feelings about Brennan's pushback and lack of effort were "not news" to Brennan, and she reiterated how he was "playing the victim" in that situation.

Emily claimed Brennan's apparent anger and frustration was just because she had "decided to speak up."

Emily went on to slam Brennan by saying, "Also, if you see him acting that way on-camera, imagine when the cameras are not there. I try to communicate as much as we can, but he doesn't want to go deep into anything."

Emily admitted on Afterparty that she was beginning to lose hope in her marriage and the idea she and Brennan could have a future together.

"I do [have hope]; it's just hard because I'm willing to do whatever and it's just, as I said, the patience is wearing thin," Emily said.

Emily concluded, however, that she was ready for more hugs and for "it all" from Brennan.

During an episode of Afterparty earlier this month, Brennan claimed that Emily aggressively and drunkenly came onto him off-camera and smothered him, allegedly trying to have sex, when he was trying to sleep.

And during a December 2023 episode of Afterparty, Keshia asked Brennan multiple times why he wasn't finding his wife attractive.

Brennan dodged the question but finally revealed, "Things came out [as Emily and I got to know each other and she had said], you know, like, 'Oh, I get ghosted. I'll have one-night stands. I love partying.'"

"And I'm just sitting there, like, 'Are you ready for marriage?'"

Brennan also complained that it seemed Dr. Pia had been asking him to explain what it was he didn't like about Emily, which he thought wasn't "nice or fair for her."

Brennan continued, "If I'm just not feeling a spark with someone, I think that's okay."

Brennan admitted it was very hard to do the best he could and be told it wasn't enough "day in and day out" during the filming process, which he called "very taxing."
