Married at First Sight star Erik Lake says he's continued to see "so many red flags" with Chris Williams and his behavior in his marriage to Paige Banks it's been difficult to believe.

Chris, however, did not even discuss the expensive purchase with Paige beforehand.
On the March 24 episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, Erik and Married at First Sight expert Dr. Viviana Coles watched back a Season 12 clip of Chris revealing the car news to Paige.
"I get the transportation aspect, but a brand new car?!" Paige asks Chris in the clip.
"Why shouldn't it be brand new?" Chris replies. "I'm bringing a king or queen into the world and so they need to ride in a chariot."
Unfiltered host Jamie Otis -- who starred on Season 1 of Married at First Sight -- asked Erik for his thoughts on Chris buying Mercedes a brand new luxury vehicle.
"I don't even know what to say," Erik replied.
On how he would've handled the situation had he been in Chris' shoes, Erik said, "I mean, I've wanted to stay out of their stuff after the honeymoon."
When Married at First Sight's five Season 12 couples honeymooned in Las Vegas simultaneously, Erik and his wife Virginia Coombs got into multiple heated arguments with Chris over his poor treatment of Paige. Chris, in turn, was angry at Erik and Virginia for butting into his business.

"I don't even want to talk about it, to be honest," Erik said on Unfiltered.

"I'm just kind of done with it, but I still love Paige to death. She's one of the strongest women I think I've ever met."
Erik continued, "If I was buying someone else a brand new car like that, I would expect Virginia to just get up and leave and never talk to me again. It's just unbelievable. I mean, I don't understand. There are so many red flags to me."
Viviana said of Chris' actions, "What I don't like is that he waited until after he did it to share it with her. That's not the way that it works when you're building trust with someone."
Viviana added, "I think this is just compounding, you know, blow after blow after blow to this relationship."
During an offroad excursion in Las Vegas earlier this season, Chris accused Virginia of having "fake concern" for his relationship with Paige. Virginia called Chris "arrogant" and he fired back by labeling her "a drunkard."
"It wasn't good, at all," Erik said on a February episode of Unfiltered. "I don't think any man should talk to a woman like that... It was just a tough position to be in."
Virginia felt extremely disrespected by Chris that day, especially when Chris screamed and swore at her when riding in a van back to their hotel, and so Erik felt the need to confront Chris at dinner that night.

"I was fed up and tired of that bullsh-t," Chris complained.
"You are out of line," Erik said.
Erik and Virginia couldn't even stand to have dinner with the entire Married at First Sight cast when Chris was present, and Chris told the cameras Erik had "crossed [his] boundary line" and he had lost all respect for the pilot.
Married at First Sight's latest twelfth-season episode showed Chris ultimately deciding he didn't feel a connection with Paige and her communication -- which mainly only took place on-camera, according to Chris -- wasn't enough to keep the relationship going.
Given Paige had felt emotionally unattached for a while and was essentially hanging on by a threat at that point, the pair decided to part ways and stop trying because their relationship simply wasn't working out.
As for Erik and Virginia's relationship, the pair have been in love and find creative ways to show their affection for each other.
Erik and Virginia, however, continue to have struggles and low moments, such as Virginia refusing to move into Erik's apartment and their obvious political differences and social views.
