Married at First Sight star Haley Harris has revealed why she was really upset that Jacob Harder made himself dinner on their first night of the couples' retreat.

During Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, Haley watched back a Season 12 clip in which she seemed displeased Jacob was eating a plate of eggs by himself once he arrived first in Hilton Head, SC.

As Jacob took down eight eggs, Haley says, "We just talked about doing dinner."

Jacob insisted in the clip he had texted and called Haley in attempt to communicate with her about dinner, and while Haley did respond, he said she never wrote back to his last text asking her estimated time of arrival.

"I didn't get a reply, so I said, 'Screw it, I'm going to cook," Jacob notes.

Unfiltered host Jamie Otis -- who starred on Season 1 of Married at First Sight -- pointed out, "Haley, this tiff isn't really about Jacob eating dinner. What's the deeper level that your frustration is coming from here?"

"It's that he wasn't listening, obviously, when I was telling him, you know, 'Friday night, we're cooking dinner. I've already done everything and you just have to show up and help me. That's it,'" Haley explained.

"And then I get there and he's already eating and he's in a bad mood."

Haley added "there were just so many things going on" that resulted in her getting upset.

Married at First Sight expert Pastor Calvin Roberson also joined Haley on Unfiltered, and Jamie asked him how Haley and Jacob could do a better job of communicating in their marriage.

"Oh my gosh, I think a lot of it is just not assuming and drawing conclusions before you have all the information," Pastor Cal said.

"I think that's what happened here, you know, 'I texted you and you didn't respond, so hey, I'm going to fix myself eight eggs!'"

As Haley rolled her eyes, Pastor Cal joked of Jacob's dinner, "That's like [a meal] for a family of four!"

"But anyway," Pastor Cal continued on a serious note, "they have got to stop assuming. I call it 'forecasting.' Because what happens is a lot of times you'll act or react on what you think is going to happen."

"You're predicting failure in the relationship," Pastor Cal added, "and I think that's a lot of what happened here."

Haley and Jacob were intimate during their honeymoon in Las Vegas, but as Haley got to know Jacob better, she pushed him away and began guarding herself from getting close to him.

Haley attempted to develop a connection with Jacob in subsequent weeks through conversation and activities, but Haley noted Jacob didn't seem interested in her life or initiate conversation -- and Jacob felt it was hard to progress their relationship when Haley refused to even hug him or give him a goodnight kiss.

Jacob has said on the show he didn't feel like he could woo Haley because she simply didn't want his affection and so he allowed her to take the reins on what type of interactions they'd have.

Following that awkward eggs dinner, Haley and Jacob continued to bicker at the couples' retreat and couldn't seem to get along.

Haley, however, thought things were getting better after the spouses played games and enjoyed a few laughs, but Jacob departed the retreat early and didn't even communicate with his wife that he was leaving.

On Married at First Sight's latest episode, Jacob explained to Haley that he felt the need to go home early to take their dogs out because it would have been 16 hours since they were let outside.

Haley understood the urgency of the situation but wished Jacob had explained himself earlier.

Although she said her marriage had been "a roller coaster," Haley thought Jacob was overall a good guy and there was still time in the experiment to pull Jacob out of his shell and for things to change for the better.

And Jacob seemed to consider staying with Haley as "Decision Day" was rapidly approaching.

"I wanted somebody who was independent and strong-willed, so she is all of those things," Jacob shared in a confessional.

"I think she's a good person and I think she went into this for the right reasons, so maybe we need to give things more time and we could potentially develop something good from here."

Jacob also told the cameras a divorce would be "daunting" and so he'd prefer to just work things out with Haley.

Haley said she recognized her final decision was a huge choice that would probably change her whole life.
