Married at First Sight star Johnny has explained his issue with Bao's reluctance to shower frequently as well as the larger problem in their relationship one week into marriage.

During Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, Johnny watched back a Season 13 clip of Bao expressing concern over the fact Johnny showers three times a day.

"I've seen weeks where I've showered that many times in a week," Bao reveals to Johnny during their honeymoon in the clip.
"I'm basically saying every time you work out or you're sweating, don't bring it into the bed," Johnny requests of his wife. "Because that's dirty, and then we'll have to change our sheets every day."

Bao suggested she could just sleep on the couch if she's "so lazy after working out and doesn't feel like showering."
"I'm okay with that," Bao acknowledges.
Johnny therefore suggests, "I think you can sleep in the bed but change the sheets. You take care of the sheets."
"But I don't want to do that!" Bao complains. "What if I'm lazy and I just want to crash on the couch?!"
"Then just take a shower!" Johnny snaps. "Is that so hard -- to just rinse off?!"

Unfiltered host Jamie Otis -- who starred on Season 1 of Married at First Sight and is still married to her match, Doug Hehner -- cracked up laughing after watching the footage and pointed out how Johnny's facial reactions during that video clip were "pretty intense."
"All throughout honeymoon, we have little arguments like this, and I think it's more so the way that we argue is not great," Johnny admitted. "And it doesn't make me feel great."

Johnny went on to say, "It's not a lot to ask of someone to just rinse off before they hop into bed, because especially if we're going to get intimate -- which I would like to do -- you know, it's easier to do that stuff when it's not funky down there."
Johnny's Married at First Sight co-star Jose also appeared on Unfiltered and quietly noted, "That's true."

But Jamie asked Johnny if he could compromise a little bit in this area given Bao had mentioned how she'd be okay with sleeping on the couch instead of in the bed.
"Why aren't you cool with that?" Jamie asked Johnny.
"We're trying to get more intimate all throughout honeymoon, and for her to say, like, 'The solution for this thing is for me to sleep somewhere else,' I mean, are we trying to [distance ourselves]?" Johnny explained.
Jamie acknowledged in that moment Johnny was trying to get closer to his wife and potentially consummate their marriage and so Bao's "solution" of not showering and sleeping apart wouldn't solve their problems.
"I get it now," Jamie said, realizing how such an arrangement would probably hinder the couple's connection.

"I understand though -- she told me from Day 1 that it's difficult for her to physically open up and kind of be the affectionate person that I am looking for, so hopefully she opens up!" Johnny shared. "I don't know."
Bao and Johnny were immediately attracted to each other on their wedding day, but Bao has taken a more conservative approach to their marriage. Bao, for instance, only gives Johnny little pecks here or there, and she put a pillow between them in bed as a bit of a barrier.

Johnny even previously admitted on Unfiltered kissing Bao in the first several days of their marriage was very "platonic," like kissing his sister!
Johnny was therefore shocked to discover during a game of "Never Have I Ever" that Bao actually had a one-night stand before. She also told her husband in private that she had previously led with physical intimacy in relationships and so she wanted to develop a deep emotional connection with Johnny in their marriage first.
Meanwhile, Johnny explained how he likes it when his partner is very affectionate and essentially all over him because it makes him feel loved and wanted.
Johnny and Bao began to develop strong feelings for each other during their honeymoon, but due to their differences, Johnny confessed to wanting to run away multiple times.
Johnny, for instance, accused Bao of focusing on the past or issues in their relationship instead of living in the moment, and he obviously seemed turned off by Bao's personal hygiene.
Johnny and Bao anticipated they would face some major struggles upon moving in together in Houston, TX.
In addition to Johnny and Bao, Married at First Sight's thirteenth season, which currently airs on Wednesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on Lifetime, also stars Jose and Rachel, Myrla Feria and Gil Cuero, Michaela and Zack, and Brett and Ryan.
