Married at First Sight star Matthew Gwynne has been shown disappearing for hours on end and not returning home to his wife Amber Bowles at night, and in the process of explaining his behavior, Matt has dropped some bombshells.

During a Wednesday night appearance on Married at First Sight: Unfiltered hosted by Jamie Otis, Matt watched back a Season 9 clip of Amber bawling to the cameras at nearly 2AM about how Matt didn't come home again. (He already had done the same once before but apologized for it and pledged to not do it again).

Amber felt rejected and abandoned in that moment, and she cried about how badly she wanted Matt to return home, hold her, and just be with her.

"Matt, you said just a few weeks ago you would never do this again. What happened?" Otis asked.

"I needed space," Matt replied on Unfiltered.

"Is marriage something that you're taking seriously?" Otis asked.

"Umm," Matt said before hesitating. "Marriage is something I'm not very happy in right now, and I'm not really feeling like I want to spend much time with Amber at this time."

Matt and Amber were about a month into their marriage at this point in the season. While the couple got off to a hot and steamy start in their relationship, their spark has apparently been fizzling ever since.

Otis then asked Matt what it was about Amber that he just couldn't stand or handle.

"I think it's just her personality at times. It just aggravates me," Matt replied.

Matt was joined by his Married at First Sight co-stars Iris Caldwell and Jamie Thompson on Unfiltered, and both cast members expressed shock listening to his comments. Iris and Otis also had disappointment or disapproval written all over their faces.

"I mean, if y'all keep pushing, I'm going to be real!" Matt blurted out in attempt to defend himself.

"I get annoyed and I get aggravated. [Amber] stresses me out. She vibrates at a very different frequency than I do. She worries all the time, and I'm, like, on edge all the time."

Matt continued, "That's not me. I need to be relaxed and in a good place. I could not take anymore. I was just like, 'I've got to get out of here! I've got to go!'"

Matt appeared frustrated at this point, and he was letting his true feelings be known.

"Whether it makes me look bad on TV or it upsets her, I don't care," Matt admitted.

"I'm going. Like, I'm out! I need to decompress and relax and get back to a good place so I can bring that person back to this marriage."

Iris and Thompson were then given a chance to weigh-in on Matt's struggle within his marriage.

"I hear you and I get it when it's like, 'This is just not working right now.' But I also consider why you guys were matched, you know what I mean?" Iris told Matt.

"I remember [Pastor Calvin Roberson] saying, 'We're not going to give you the person you want; we're going to give you the person you need.'"

Thompson -- who once pulled a disappearing act on his wife Elizabeth Bice after a big fight on Married at First Sight's ninth season -- then shared his thoughts on Matt's behavior.

"I mean, it's really hard because honestly, I can see both sides of it," Thompson reasoned.

"And obviously I've been there too where you've just got to get out of it and there's nothing that could be said or done and you just feel like the walls are enclosing down on you and you've got to go."

Amber and Matt's relationship seemed to take a turn for the better in the latest episode when Amber paid a visit to Matt's childhood home and the pair bonded over their pasts, but based on Matt's rant on Unfiltered, things aren't looking good for the couple.

Married at First Sight also stars Iris' husband Keith Manley as well as Deonna McNeill and Gregory Okotie.

At this point in the season, less than two weeks remain until "Decision Day," when each couple must decide whether they'd like to stay married or get divorced.

During Wednesday night's Married at First Sight episode broadcast, Matt and Amber revealed they had decided to slow their relationship down and stop being intimate.

Matt told MAFS expert Dr. Viviana Coles that he still wanted to be physically intimate with Amber but was just choosing not to because they had moved really fast in the beginning.

Matt said he wanted to grow in their marriage as emotional partners, which he thought would in turn make their physical connection even better.
